Mangaluru, Mar 31: People are unaware of the model code of conduct. Officials should come forward and create awareness about it and to prevent its violation. Officials should provide a helpline number to the public," said MLA UT Khader.

Addressing press persons at the DCC office here on Friday, March 31, he said officials have imposed restrictions on holding religious programmes. The officials should create awareness about this to the public, he added.

He said people are facing acute water scarcity. People from both urban and rural areas are thus facing a shortage of drinking water. The government has not allotted any grants to provide drinking water to the public, he said.

The BJP will not come to power in the upcoming elections. Congress will come back to power in the state, he predicted.

Khader condemned the cancellation of the 2B reservation, saying the BJP has always against reservation.

“Reservation is being given under the constitutional to alleviate the lives of the downtrodden. But, the BJP is always against reservation,” he said.
