Kasargod: Harassment of two madrasa students – Teacher sentenced to 53 years in prison

Kasargod, Apr 1: Abdul Hanif Madani (44), a resident of Badrakadambu of Vitlapadnoor village of Bantwal, who meted out sexual harassment on two students of Madrasa, where he was a teacher, was sentenced to 53 years of Rigorous Imprisonment and fined Rs 3.25 lac by Kasargod additional district sessions court (first) under POCSO law. If the convict fails to pay the fine, he has to undergo further prison term of 3.5 years.

Ambalattara police had registered a case in 2016. The convict had homosexually harassed two boys aged 10 and 11 who were coming to learn at the Madrasa where he was a teacher.

In a similar case, the court had awarded 20 years imprisonment to Hanif two years ago.
