Beltangady: Two acres of forest destroyed due to wildfire

Beltangady, Apr 4: Wild fire erupted at Periyadka area of Koyyuru forest at Belalu village on Sunday. Around two acres of forest area was burnt down in the fire.

The reason for the wildfire is not known. DRFO Lokesh, forest patrol guard Vinaya Chandra, members of the calamity control team, fire service personnel and locals put off the fire.

The wildfire initially began at Nertane, Ekkela and Koti Hittilu of Mundaje-Dharmasthala reserve forest. As it was brought under control, the fire got spread to Mundrupadi and Filathadka.

Forest department personnel and locals are trying their level best to bring the fire under control.
