PM Modi to address 20 rallies in Karnataka ahead of polls

Bengaluru, Apr 4 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address a total of 20 public rallies in a span of 30 days in the poll-bound state of Karnataka ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled to be held on May 10, a BJP source said on Tuesday.

The source said that the Prime Minister's "first round of visits" ahead of the announcement of the Assembly election date helped the party gain "some momentum".

"His public rallies and road shows attracted a large number of people, and also helped the party," the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) source said.

The Prime Minister will be visiting Karnataka for the seventh time on April 9 on the occasion of the completion of 50 years of Tiger project.

The opposition Congress leaders, however, have dubbed PM Modi "a poll agent" for his "too many visits to Karnataka".

On this, the BJP source said that Modi's "visits have been successful in tilting the wave towards the saffron party and beating the anti-incumbency factor".

However, the arrest of BJP legislator Madal Virupakshappa in connection with a bribery case has come as a blow to the party.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah's public rally venue was changed from Davanagere district for the same reason.

Another source said that the party, in a bid to put that episode behind, wants to launch a high-voltage campaign ahead of the polls.

According to a party insider, PM Modi is expected to address 20 public rallies in a span of one month.

The Prime Minister's rallies would also focus on constituencies where the Congress and the Janata Dal-Secular are "strong", BJP sources said.

Modi will enthuse crowds with his strong narrative pitch and for this die hard supporters and their families as well as the fence sitting people will definitely vote for his party. This will help BJP to comfortably cross the 113 - 115 barrier to emerge the top contending party.

Very good!! What ever we say in the guise of fake ids as usual, the BJP has done their home work very well. What is the Congress plan? RaGa is in his own world of problems, may come in the last minute waving from the car. Will it help?? Congress CM aspirants are still infighting. In Kodial, there is a 'bun fight' between JR Lobo and Ivan Dsouza groups. They want to sxrew each other as M Bava says he wants to contest. Newcomers are sidelined . AAP is proving to be tough contender with new young members. Owaisi is all set to field in 25 constituencies, splitting the minority vote bank. DYFI again in the same boat on an aggressive campaign. Dodda Gowdru swore, that it will not tie up with Congress anymore. Net Net, the result is very obvious. So who do we blame???

Those MLA,s who win in the name of PM no standing. They will be useless as they cannot do anything for the people without approval from PM. They will not be able to get any grants from central government in case of difficult times like floods sea erosion etc. People need to remember that they are employer and pay MLA salary through taxes GST etc . Think before you vote for your and your children future. Please vote in large numbers for right candidate.

Doesn’t the Prime Minister have duties and responsibilities towards rest of the states and country as a whole? How can he afford to leave everything and reside in Karnataka State 24x7? Also looks like Karnataka state BJP doesn’t have competent leaders to handle election matters. Also I have a question. I thought that the Prime Minister after taking charge of his constitutional position doesn’t belong to any party. How can he support a particular party during elections? Can someone enlighten me please?

Correct, because in Karnataka no voters are casting their votes by seeing Karnataka leaders face , all votes polling to BJP is just because of Modiji's face. He has to come for campaign. ,

Each rally if it costs atleast one crore then 20 rallies will cost 20 crores. EC should take note of this and ask explanations about the expenditure.
