Bangalore: Karnataka Commandos Present Thrilling Mock Drill

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Jul 1: The newly-raised contingent of Karnataka commandos provided a glimpse of their skills and agility through a mock drill, staged at the premises of Anti-terrorist Centre of Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) headquarters at Koodlu in the city. The commando contingent was dedicated to the services of the state on Thursday June 30.

A bus that was hijacked by two hijackers was rescued by a group of 16 commandos within seconds. A room that had been taken over by terrorists was relieved from the clutches of the terrorists in a swift and skilfully executed manoeuvre. These were some of the mock drills staged by the new contingent at the said venue.

The onlookers, who comprised minister and government officials, were thrilled at the meticulous planning and execution skills exhibited by the commandos.

The contingent, headed by Shivashankare Gowda, exhibited their ability to dismantle AK 47 and 9 mm pistols even as they were blindfolded, and put the parts together within seconds. This training is given to enable the commandos to effectively combat the enemies even when it is pitch dark. The members of the commando contingent also displayed their skills at stifling and assembling of arms even when their hands are injured.

The commandos also proved that they were trained to provide first aid to their injured colleagues during combats, and to prepare them for action without delay. The action in which the commandos jumped from one building to the other made the people breathless.

Home minister, R Ashok, principal secretary of the department of home, S M Jamdar, additional director general of police, Bipin Gopalakrishna, city police commissioner, Jyothiprakash Mirji, and commando trainer, Muttanna, were present.

Ashok said that 80 commandos had been trained in the first phase, and that more such training programmes will be undertaken in phases. “The contingent will at present, function from the city. Later, their services will be extended to IT centres, coastal belt, and other important places. The commandos will give a strong message to anti-social elements that destructive activities will be swiftly and effectively snuffed out,” he added.

Inspector general of police, Bhaskar Rao, said that the department has planned to provide special training to 3,500 policemen over a two-year period, and that every contingent of KSRP and district armed reserve police will be provided with two such contingents each.

good initiative I don't know for what ....? Is to suppress the voiceless farmers and minority: at the cost of multinational companies.  terrerists are not outside they are part of the corrupt government.

When the government is free from corruption and comes out of its vested interest, and performs its duty properly I am sure it is the first step towards Ramarajya. State of peace and harmony. there is no need for commandos.

It's not like you sitting in mangalore and commenting whatever you like.

What's the use of a covering the head and face by a piece of cloth? What's the use of taking a group Photo by covering the face???This reminds me of a picture of a married couple with the bride covered from from head to toe in a grand burka???

I feel you need bullet proof helmets and face shields. Anyway our HM Ashoka looks very qualified for his job which is why he is shaking hands with one of the commandos. No doubt Nagesh Nayak will endorse Askokajii.

u dont need to be a PA to know how gud that person is...what i meant was..his interaction with people, his various initiatives to control crime... (i m sure that u wont be aware of this)..He is the only Home minister in the history of karnataka who have led the invistigation team in cracking few serious cases...

And as for as your comment on mock drill is concerned , it is indeed a mock drill...if u dont know what is mock drill and a real time situation..then its your fault...

Rightly said Mr.Ganesh.In Karnataka we have no danger at all from terrorists but only from Khadidaari corrupt politicians and corrupt officals at government offices.
If the services of the newly formed Commando Force is utlised for above mentioned segments,it would be a great help for the public.

Good move by the govt. I can't understand why we should not have a contingent of such decisive action force stationed at each district head quarters. Terrorists should be killed-as simple as that. Jai Bharath Matha.
