Mangaluru: House locked on Good Friday burgled; gold, cash worth Rs 1.2 lac stolen

Mangaluru, Apr 9: A house was burgled in Kudupu Pedamale on Friday when the family members had been to the church. Gold ornaments and cash were found stolen from the house.

On April 7, Praveen Monteiro had locked his house at around 5.45 pm and had been to the church along with his family to offer prayers on the occasion of Good Friday. They returned home at 7.45 pm and when they opened the locked door with the key they saw that the house was burgled. They found that the thieves had gotten into the house by removing the tiles on the roof and broke the locks of the cupboard which contained valuables including cash.

They made away with gold ornaments that included a 20 gram gold chain, an 8 gram ear stud made of gold, 4 gram ring and about Rs 4,000 in cash. The stolen valuables are valued at about Rs 1.2 lacs, according to a complaint filed with the Kankanady rural police by the family members.
