Bantwal, Apr 10: Rajya Sabha MP Dr L Hanumanthaiah opined that B Ramanath Rai, Congress candidate of Bantwal legislative constituency is a good human being and apt to serve the people.

Hanumanthaiah gave keynote address in the Aikatha Samavesha that was held at Sprasha Kala Mandir of B C Road, which was organized by Bantwal Congress scheduled caste and tribe units.

Dr Hanumanthaiah further said, “The BJP is thinking of changing the constitution, which is protecting us. Dalits have the capacity to stop this thought even at the cost of their blood. As the BJP knows that it is not possible to change the constitution overnight, they are weakening it bit by bit. Many organizations, which were established by Congress are privatized by BJP, thereby depriving the reservation of SC and ST communities. This is a huge injustice. Congress should attain power once again to prevent this.”

MLC Manjunath Bhandary said, “The constitution has given us respect through the values of equality, freedom and brotherhood. Congress has contributed in a vast manner to the progress of India by making several laws under the constitution. Only if Congress wins, the honour of constitution can be protected and upheld.”

Ramanath Rai said, “You have seen my behaviour. I have always taken people of all classes together. Even when I was not in power, I have worked with the weak and downtrodden. Congress is committed to resolve the issue of DC land relaxation, which is long-standing demand of Dalits of Dakshina Kannada. When our party forms government after the elections, this issue will be resolved.”

Nitin Kulal Allipade and Seetaram Poojary joined Congress from the BJP.
