Mangalore: Two Arrested for Raping 12-year-old Dalit Girl

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (PS)

Mangalore, Jul 1:
Bajpe police have arrested two persons for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl belonging to the Dalit community.

Led by Panambur ACP Puttamadaih, Bajpe police arrested Manoj Shetty (33), a resident of Kinnipadav, Bajpe and Dinesh Amin (22), a resident of Padu Perav, Chavandypalke near Bajpe.

Manoj and Dinesh

The minor was allegedly raped by the duo last week. The incident came to light when the victim, a resident of Kompadav, revealed the gruesome act to her mother.

Police said that the girl was dragged by Manoj Kumar while she was on her way to school on June 24. Manoj also called Dinesh to a house in the outskirts of the city, where they are said to have raped her. They threatened the girl with dire consequences if she revealed the incident.

Her mother filed a case against the duo in Bajpe police station. Though the culprits absconded after the case was registered against them, Bajpe police were able to hunt them down.

Just make them "Napumsaka"s. No better punishment than this. Make them to give a huge amount to victim. Take all their valuables and give away to her. let the girl demand whatever she wants and let the culprits work till their end or end up themselves. What you say Nagesh Mamu?

It is not the question of Dalits. Crime against women is growing at an ever alarming rate as if the criminals have no fear of the law...We need very very stringent laws like acceptance of video-graphed confession, but in a stinking system like ours where the law is used to nail the guilty as well as trap innocents.

Really very sad and shocking to hear these raping news. Today the Dalit girl has been raped. Tomorrow who knows, whose daughter it will be!!!! The laws are there. But punishments are the same old ones. Punishments are to be modified to higher level. In the cases of Rape, the trial should be carried out as swift as possible and if it is proved, the guilty should be punished by removing his testicles itself. If the girl is raped and murdered, then, the person must be given death sentence. This will create at least some kind of fear in the minds of rapists. But just a meager punishment of jail or fine will not stop these animals from their dirty acts. In the cases of robbery, the thieves can be jailed, robbed items can be recovered.

But when a girl is raped, her life will be totally ruined. Will the compensation give back her past life? Keeping the above into consideration, the options of punishment in the law must be modified. If the lawyers of the accused fight to prove the rapist as innocent, and if one of his daughters or family members is raped, then what he will do? Will he again prove, the rapist as innocent?

Once peaceful, beautiful, respectful Mangalore is today crying with shame. Friends, wake up. Think why the criminals, rapists, Hafta vasooliwallas, thieves are increased in our beloved Mangalore ? Is it not because of the blessing of criminal minded politicians ?

If anyone enters the house of a lonely female, police can not take action against the tresspassers otherwise Politicians with goondas will threaten the police. A boy and a girl can not go to a movie or to a Restaurant (may be they are brother and sister) because of moral police will create hangama and real police can not take action due to political influence.

The things are going from bad to worst day by day. When the law makers are rapists & criminals why the young generation will not follow their footsteps ? Very unfortunate and very sad state of our dear Mangalore.

We are different from Animals because we have been bestowed by our Creator faculty of reasoning and termed as "Best of Creation" when compared to Animals. Yes, we do have sexual urge like what we see with the Animals but with utmost responsibility we fulfil our desires as this is what is expected by religion teachings. Humanbeings belong to human race and practicing caste system is a scheme devised by our society for their political gain. It's really agonizing to know about the incident that took place in Bajpe, and as most of our readers have already opined, loosing no further time, culprits are to be punished in a way that can deter others to involve in such kind of acts.

You have hit the bull's eye.
No matter what the guilty should be tried and a DNA sample test should prove their guilt. The case should not be dragged too long. Maximum sentence at least 30 years with no payrol.
Coming back Why mention "Dalit Girl". We ourselves want to devide the society and the community. A girl is a girl, let she be dalit or anybody. FYI cast system has been abolished ages ago by the ruling of the Supreme Court. Even now every where including govt. schools, govt. jobs or in political parties quota reserved for SC/ST etc! WHAT!!!! WHY!!!!
As i said earlier cast system is abolished. If you have to reserve then put it as "Economically Backward" or give them special package like the Aussie govt has for the Indigenous people who were earlier termed as Aboriginals. But no, our politicians and the system was to gain milage by using these words. I request the media to be more responsible.
Please try and unite the community.
    Thanks Daiji

Why mention 'Dalit' girl? We have been blaming politicians for the divide among us. But glance through the news headlines and even our own day-to-day usage of words. 'Dalit girl raped', 'Muslim man elopes', 'Hindu housewife molested', aren't we sending wrong message? Media has gradually started playing the role of ‘accuser, prosecutor and judge’ together. In the corresponding news, it was enough to have mentioned 'Two Arrested for Raping 12-year-old Girl'. Was 'Dalit' necessary? Does it also mean if the girl was not Dalit, the news would have never hit headlines? And Mr Henry Misquith, everyone's is wounded in our society from time-to-time, Dalits, Majority, Minority, Aryans, Dravidians...Each community has been at the receiving end at one point or the other in the history and each community has played ‘beast’ whenever and wherever it was possible. But allow the wounds to heal and don't open them again and again. I do not think that just because we are born human, we need to be called human. To be human is a race and those who fail to reconcile with times and situations are the real losers. Whether it is a Dalit, Minority or Majority, rape is heinous crime against humanity. It is not mere attack on woman and her freedom, but it is question mark on humanity’s effort in casting out 'beast' within. Until we cast out this ‘beast’ within we all stand on the same platform with ‘animals’.

The gruesome incident shows the continuing vulnerability of the low caste community in the hands of upper castes, which we have been witnessing from ages. Despite being corrupt, previous governments have indeed uplifted these communities through appropriate policies and missionaries have also contributed in providing them basic education. However, the largely upper caste dominated government being in power now, these communities are once again in the receiving ends and only God save them.

Unacceptable!!!! Get the DNA sample checked and punish the culprits ASAP! Don't drag the case..strike back when the issue is hot..this will warn potential child abusers in the society.

Child abusers should not be allowed to roam freely with civilized society..but again as a society our morals and values are sinking fase..the culture and value is abused by the media and content shown in movies. Seems like people who abide by the holy teachings are very handful..even holy men are indulging in unholy practises resulting in lack of faith in scriptures and values preached by holy books. All our religions-islam, hindu, christianity, jainism, sikhisim -direct us to live a pious life, to find god within us but at the same time they lay down how to live in a society and the duties.

Good work by police, hopefully the men are not framed and are real culprits..you never know unless tested by scientific proofs and circumstantial evidences and dna samples from the victims body is analyzed..and of course there is a probability of wrong results. The Satan's lawyers will possibly try to save this culprits by asking them not to give any statements and perhaps question the character of their mother and the kid causing further embarassment to the poor and deprived in the society..Manglore..wake up..stand up for justice...you never know which kid is the next victim...
