Thiruvananthapuram: Hidden Valuables at Temple Valued at Rs 50,000 Crore

Daijiworld Media Network – Thiruvananthapuram (SP)

Thivuvananthapuram, Jul 2: Those entrusted with the task of making a list of the contents stored in the secret underground cellars of Lord Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple here have found to their surprise, that the cellars contain gold ornaments, jewels, emeralds, gold and silver utensils, and other valuables estimated to be worth over Rs 50,000 crore. One of the crowns used to be worn by the king of Travancore dynasty at the time of coronation, was among the findings. 30 percent of the contents of these cellars remain to be checked by the team that has been entrusted with the task of opening the cellars and listing out their contents, by the Supreme Court.

As at Friday, five of the six cellars were opened. Heaps of gold chains, idols, crowns, utensils and other valuables, which were hidden in these secret cellars, resemble those which are detailed in Hindu mythology. One of the gold chains weighs 10.5 kgs, and its length is 18 ft. This particular ornament’s pendant contains invaluable jewels, diamonds etc, which are worth crores of rupees. Four other gold ornaments weighed 2.2 kgs each. Large quantity of pearls, jewels etc were found packed in gunny bags. Sources said that over 2,000 ornaments that are worn around the neck were found from these cellars.

The jewellery, left behind the Travancore dynasty of kings, proves that the stories about heaps of different jewels explained in Indian history and mythological books were not just figments of imagination. The antique value of this jewellery is estimated to many times more. Sources said that the actual worth of the valuables can be estimated only after all the cellars are opened, and the listed items are valued by experts.

The cellars have complex locks. The cellar in which ornaments and valuables worth about Rs 30,000 crore were found on Friday, had a very complicated lock system, which took half a day for the concerned to open.

A temple's wealth means the wealth of the brahmanas. According to the codes of dharma brahmana's have 6 duties: to perform yajna for their own benefit and the benefit of others, to study and to teach, and to live by accepting gifts and giving in charity to others whenever there is excess wherever there is need.

A lot of people already have this wealth spent, but why after having preserved it for 1000s of years, should it now be entire depleted? The temple has to continue on indefinitely into the future and that is the corpus of funds for ensuring that.

What would constitute responsible fiscal policy in this case?

First of all, we need to establish the intent under which this money was given, or the social contract that has always existed in India under the rule of varnashrama-dharma. That was simply stated, "para-upakar", or doing good works (upakar) for the spiritual good and material welfare of others (para), with the basic aim of "Om Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu" that everyone should be happy. How? By power sharing and profit sharing. The ancient Vedic society was a happy, enlightened and prosperous one due to having implemented these root ideologies that counter the extremist ideologies of the West (ie. Communism, Capitalism, Socialism, Fascism, Totalitarianism, Anarchy, Monarchy and Democracy). Vedic culture was none of these 8, yet had elements of all of these 8 ideologies in proper balance with God in the center. Every social segment got their quota of "happy".

Before preaching on such things, why dont you take little bit of your time in advising the same to the Christian establishments in kerala and in India as a whole who are the most richest community in India and even then, even in sectors like Higher Education, think of the stand of inter church council which is a part of the same community...Sree Padmanabhan's wealth is of the temple's and it should remain as the same....Hindus can tolerate upto a level, but expoitation also should have a certain limit.

Now the figures have raised to 90,000 Crs and counting, estimates is around 100,000 Crs which is approx equivalent 200 Billion Dollars. What we should learn is that this is the blood and sweat of our ancestors Hindu or not. And it would deem them well if we use it solely for upliftment of the poor. Meanwhilse here is another fact to chew quote(Economic times)"India topped the world with $1.45 trillion deposits in Swiss banks." - which is mostly black money.

This means after the british looted us for 2-3 centuries, for the rest our own "Neo white Babus" have looted the country. The stint of poverty has left such a mark on us people that we still think White Skin is better dark and Hingresi Indians are better..

If anything this revelations should cause us think, why we look towards the west for everything, when we nee our ancestors were better and richer than anything the west can show us

Five hundred and fifty Kings in India lost
their "privy purse", and for the
    government of India, it saved
    millions of dollars
    every year. Now the politicians
have the "privy purse" and the
government is totally helpless to take it legally.

Finding over 50000 crore Rs. worth
of things in a Temple is very
    surprising, and the end result
may be double of that amount.
We need not have to blame anybody
about the past and we can't change
    the past.

Let this amount may use for the
uplift of those people who are
in the bottom level of the society or may it be used
exclusively for the Hindu community. If the relgious places
    (all religions) are turning like
    exhibition halls of expensive
    antique collections, that is
    confusing. How many thousand small
houses can be built for the poor people all across Kerala with that
    money?

Joseph F. Gonsalves, Bannur, Puttur / Mangalore blindly dont comment for the sake of commenting. Place like thirupathi, varanasi, mathura are the sacred places of hindus. Lakhs of devotees come every year to those places. Even though if people give donations of Rs.100/- also the total income will reach to crores of amount. Also those amounts are not belonging to any individual person. The portion of those goes to the govt also and there are records for those. Also please advise your kangress support medias to be impartial towards political parties and religion and come out with the actual truth what they see and not on the basis of political parties or religion whom they support ok.

    Dear Mr. Nagesh Nayak Bangalore,
I quote your comment: BTITISHERS LOOTED FOR 182 YEARS. STILL INDIA IS RICH & INTACT DUE TO PATRIOTIC RSS, BJP,SS BD,SRS,VHP & OTHER HINDU ORGANISATION. UNQUOTE.

If India is having 50,000 crores of prescious wealth found in one temple, imagine in other temples like thirupathi, varanasi, mathura etc etc., how much wealth will be there in those temples which shows british have preserved the wealth of India and did not looted. Only Mr. Yeddyurappa and Reddys are looting Karnataka.

Secondly, during british rule un-patriotic/communals like RSS, BJP, SS, BD SRS VHP AND OTHER WERE NOT EXISTING AND THEY DID NOT PRESERVE THE WEALTH RATHER IT IS THE BRITISH WHO HAVE PRESERVED THROUGH THE EVIDENCE OF WEALTH FOUND IN THE TEMPLE IT IS VISIBLE.

    Dear Readers,
There is nothing wrong in this wealth. Olden days Emperors/Kings/Queens donated large amount of their EXCESS wealth donated to temple as UMBALI ( Indian never died by starvation before arrival of british and starved died during time British rule ). Just because of this secret chambers and secrecy we retained this much of wealth. Other wise it would shipped back London long back.

My dears readers don’t comment on communal line. Before you commenting please re-read Sipoy Mutiny and how much wealth looted by east India Company officials in from battle of plasey to final days of sipoy mutiny 1857…???????

We should proud of Queen Ahalya Bai of Holker dynasti and Emperor Ranjit singh of Sikh Empire.Becasue of their Noble cause many Temples are renovated and still we can see their beauty and also Vallabha Bai Patel for rebuilding the Great Somanath Temple at Prabhasa Kshetra,Gujarath
Donation to temple is nothing wrong. Eg: Saudi Rulers (Kings and Custodian of Holy Mosque of Mecca and Madina )donated and spend billons for maintain/up keep the these Holy places.

Be proud our Indian Culture and History. Jai Hind

The amount of black money within India could be a hundred times more than the black money stashed in Swiss banks and other tax heavens. As per reports the 18 Indian-owned accounts in the LGT Bank in Liechtenstein had received inflows of just Rs 39 crore including some legitimate earnings abroad. But this figure of Rs 50,000 crore unaccounted in just one temple is beyond imagination. Similar treasure troves can be found in hundreds of temples in our country.

Stacking unaccounted, tax-evaded money in Swiss banks is a criminal offence and that money has to be brought back. At the same time the lakhs and lakhs of crores of black money inside our own country, about which the political parties and civil society are silent, to has be unearthed.

Temples in India own more gold than the country's Central Bank(Reserve Bank)or they are richer than Swiss Banks. Indian temples are rich and they collecting hundreds of millions of cash and tons of gold from devotees. The craze peoples for gold in India that they believe that gold is the best and most precious commodity that they can donate to a deity as from the worship. What has gold to do with the Temples,Ashrams? God have nothing to do with the cash and ornamental wealth.

The antique value of the stuff can never be estimated nor confirmed. It should therefore be converted into a highly secure Museum which might in time, become the greatest in the world. However, this is not likely to happen. Sonia Gandhi’s family runs an Indian antique shop in Italy. Subramanian Swami has spoken of it. Stolen antiques from Indian temples used to be smuggled out of India to Italy with the help of the LTTE.

When the first UPA government took charge, the Italian PM was one of the first visitors to India. 15 agreements were signed without much publicity. One of the agreements stipulated that Italian companies be ‘consulted’ and allowed to manage all Indian archeological sites and antique stuff, by taking them abroad if necessary. [Another was to contract the entire Chandrayaan to Italian companies]. Sooner or later therefore, the Italians might step in in the matter of the Padmanabha treasures. If Oommen Chandy plays along, he might even overtake AK Anthony and be President of India soon, as reward.
