Cricket: Can India Wrap the Series on Final Day?

Daijiworld Media Network - Sports

Kensington Oval, Jul 2: A strong 240-run lead has certainly placed India on a driving seat in the second test match between India and West Indies here, on day four.

India is already leading the three test match series by 1-0 and is now eying to wrap the series on Day five, Saturday July 3, without waiting for the third test.

On day four, the pitch seems to have been in favour of the batting side, but credit certainly must go to Laxman, Dravid, Mukund and of course Kohli.  The batsmen were watchful and never missed a chance to punish the bad balls.

Laxman who continued his good form from first innings remained not out at 72, and now has a great opportunity to score a century, which he narrowly missed in the first innings. By scoring some quick runs in the day five, morning session, India has a ideal opportunity to win the match and also clinch the series.

A lead of around 300 runs on the board and and two-and-half sessions for the bowlers should be enough to send 10 West Indian players to pavilion.

According to experts, day five seems to be in favour of the spins bowlers. If that happens, Bajji can turn the ball and would play a key-role in Indian bowling attack.

The scores As of Now:

India first Innings 201
West Indies first innings: 190
India Second innings : 229/3 (Abhinav Mukund 48, Murali Vijay 3, Rahul Dravid 55, VVS Laxman 72 batting, Virat Kohli 26 batting) Fidel Edwards 58/2, Ravi Rampaul 51/1.
