Kundapur, Apr 11: In a bizarre incident that is reported from Belve village of Siddapur in the taluk, a woman cheated her own elder sister for Rs 13.5 lac on the pretext of searching for a groom.
A case in this connection is filed by Gummala Saroja on her younger sister Savita in Shankaranarayana police station.
It is accused that Savita, along with Kiran and Srinivasa, used to ask for money repeatedly on the pretext of finding a suitable groom to Saroja, elder sister of Savita. Saroja, who was fooled by the sweet talk of her younger sister Savita, transferred an amount of Rs 13,59,500 to Savita’s bank account.

In addition, it is also alleged by Saroja that Savita took gold bangles worth Rs three lac and necklace on the pretext of attending a marriage function and did not return. The gold is pledged at Vijaya Bank of Mulki as per the complainant. Accused Savita along with Kiran and Srinivasa threatened complainant Saroja with life when she asked to return the money and gold ornaments.
Shankaranarayana police are investigating.
