Mangaluru: Man begins ‘holige’ business with Rs 100 capital, sees great success

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Apr 11: Sudhakar Bhat, a resident of Asaigoli on the outskirts of the city has shown that if there is a will, there is a way. He started the holige industry from a capital investment of just Rs 100 and today he is one of the most sought after makers of holige and dishes out 3000 pieces of holiges per day.

Sudhakar studied only up to fourth grade. He worked as a cook in hotels and other functions. Later, he tried to experiment with the business of holige-making, in which his father was an expert. Now, Sudhakar is a successful entrepreneur.

There is huge demand for the holiges prepared by Sudhakar in marriage and other auspicious occasions. He sells 3000 holiges per day. In addition, Sudhakar has provided employment to six young girls. He has also provided gold and other expenses for their marriage and displayed his philanthropic nature towards his employees.

Though Sudhakar got education only upto fourth grade, he is helping other children to get educated. He is a role model for women empowerment as he has supported his wife to do her PhD.

On the whole, as per the self-reliant Indian vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sudhakar has turned himself into a successful entrepreneur by making delicious holiges.

Manglorean have become lazy and privileged, running behind easy money. There was a time, when entrepreneurs from mangalore were creating brands like Ideals, Canara, Syndicate, Co-operation, Vijaya, Camco, Manipal, KMC, PVS Types of Brands. Today only want to do engg and want comfy desk jobs. Established bussiness have become outdated. Not investing on younger generation of entrepreneurs who will create pan india brands. Mangalore is fast becoming a sleepy town on the foothills of Western Ghats. Sad looking at the comment section

Does anyone really know how much of cut throat competition is there in such type of businesses which have no moat? There are 100s of line suppliers supplying such ready to eat stuff who have to vie with each other to get orders on wafer thin margins! Does anyone know what's the shelf life of this eatable? Unless it is branded and develops some market penetration, this story of a business started with Rs. 100/- is like "shekhchilli ke sunayare sapne"! I don't want to flatter anyone just to get likes for my opinion! What I am posting is out of my very personal experience of nearly four years in the industry!

What is required of a human being? Taking care of oneself and if one has a family then taking care of one's family. This is not only a responsibility but also a duty. We have to work with 10 fingers and eat with five fingers. Thank you and God bless each and every one of us.

Photos depict how a small businesses can generate more profits and be successful, than small scale industries who invest a lot on machinery and take utmost care in hygiene while something being prepared for common man's consumption. Anyways, all the best for Shri Sudhakar Bhat. As he cares for his employees, he should care for his customers too.
