Dubai: Emirates Surathkal Association Celebrates Annual Fest

Dubai, Jul 2: Surathkal parishioners residing in the UAE celebrated the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday July 1, with great devotion and enthusiasm. The day started with all parishioners attending the 10.00 am mass at St Mary’s Church here and thereafter gathering at Quick Bite Restaurant, Deira, for the lunch followed by entertainment.

Socia Pinto took charge of the noon event from 12:30 pm and gave a brief introduction of the event followed with prayer by Valerian D' Almaida.  Wilson Crasta, Lancy D'Souza, Clara Pinto and team with their melodious voice sang a hymn thanking Sacred Heart of Jesus. 























Sunil Pinto, the President of ESPA (Emirates Surathkal Parishioners Association) delivered the welcome message.  Godfrey Misquith read the prayerful greetings sent by Fr Antony Lobo, the parish priest, Surathkal.  Roydon Roche, the secretary of ESPA, read the annual report. Ashok D’Souza introduced the new members. At 1.30 pm, a traditional Mangalorean lunch was served.

After lunch, a number of short games were conducted by Valerian D' Almaida that mesmerized the audience. Wilson Crasta, Alwyn D'Souza, Lancy D’Souza, Clara Pinto, Jyothi D'Souza, Pramila Roche, Olan Pinto, and Calvina Pinto sang the ‘manddo’ that was enjoyed by everyone present. 

Fiona D'Souza, Joshua D'Souza and Ashlyn Sequeira attracted the attention of the gathering with their dance performance. A cultural show was presented by Roydon Roche and team.  A short general body meeting was also conducted and members expressed a desire to conduct similar programmes in the future. A game of ‘Housie’ was conducted by Lancy D’Souza. There was a session of Baila also with the youngsters enjoying to the core.

Pictures of the entire event were captured by Avil Pinto. The wonderfully organized function came to an end with a vote of thanks proposed by the committee advisor Charles Aranha who also expressed gratitude to all those who had helped directly or indirectly in making the occasion memorable.

    It was really a wonderful programme. We children had lots of fun. It was nice to meet people from Surathkal in Dubai. I felt as if I was in Surathkal. Looking forward for more programmes from ESPA. Thank you ESPA.
