@kempegowda, BengaLuru i dont agree with you. Who told you that mangaloreans dont support kannada movies. I have seen in mangalore some clubs or any other organizations inviting small to small kannada actors during their functions rather than hindi or any other actors. Also you can find in kannada film industry people from mangalore have contributed a lot. For Eg actors like Leelavathi, Kalpana, Jayamala, Prakash Rai, Vinaya Prasad, Radhika, Upendra, Kashinath etc are from mangalore. Also when it comes to music directors Gurukiran, V Manohar, Manikanth Kadri are from Mangalore. You might be knowing that Gurukiran has given hit to hit music in kannada movies like A, Upendra, Abhi, Kariya, Apmamitra, Jogi, Rama Shama Bhama, Pallaki, Aptarakshaka etc. The best among being is Aptamitra where he composed more of classical music as he is meant mainly for rock music. Also V Manohar has given good movies.

@P.S.Naik, Kundapur, Muscat i partially agree with you. Even though there are kannada movie fans in mangalore, there are Some of them who behave like watching kannada movie is like an insult to them. They want to watch only hindi or english movies. It doesnt matter if they understand hindi or english, but they want to watch only hindi or english movies and how much ever silly or bakwas it might be they are ready to accept it. In the same way if something goes wrong with kannada movies the people will comment like anything.

    Kempegowdarige Namaskara,
Hope you are not a reincarnation. Many people have commented that Mangaloreans don't like Kannada or Kannada films. I don't see any comment from Mangaloreans undermining Kannada language or films. It is only about an actor and the award. I am sure, Mangaloreans like good movies (in any language) and good actors, for example Dr. Rajkumar, Dr. Srinath, Dr. Vishnuvardhan, Ambareesh, Ganesh, Sudeep, Darshan, Uppi and many such actors.

Hence, please don't get biased with language or region and don't presume that Mangaloreans like only hindi movies or actors. Even if they like hindi movies it is because of the quality and high standards of film making.

KFi is not like any Industry, folks here are matured, alert and sensible. After Annarru stopped doing movies, there were none to make assertive statement about swamakes and stick to motherland.Even after his demise there was plenty of time and opporunity for others to showcase thier talent in swamakes and versatilty. Its only Shivanna who is ever different right from his early days till today in concepts and roles.Shivanna also done several novel based movies which is highest among Sandalwood heros,i cannot recommend any remakes or action movies to any of my non Kannada friends or colleagues. There seems to be wrong perceptions and illogical thinking regarding family, etc in this fast and competitive world. Also some people have prehudices without any reasonable thinkings.Well Shivanna easily best actor with a such unmatchable contributions to the Sandalwood.

Brandon, Mangalore since you dont like Shivanna it's not a must that even others should hate him. If you say Shivanna is ugly, dirty and doesnot know acting then what about the acting of Salman, Akshay who always do over acting in most of the films.

I agree with the comments of Calvin, Surathkal/USA, Praveen Kumar, Mangaluru/Bengaluru, Durgadas Suvarna, MLORE/BLORE and Nishith Shetty, sujeer/uae.

@Calvin, Surathkal/USA i appreciate your comments very much. Being in USA you have so much love and respect towards kannada film industry.

@Robin, kadri for your kind information Shivanna entered film industry before Sharukh khan. Regarding dancing Shivanna dances better than Sharukh khan as shivanna is a trained dancer. Also please dont judge any person based on his looks because even Rajanikanth is not that good in looks, but today you know that how he is ruling the entire film industry with his actings by sidelining all the actors.

I see some of the affirmative comments to the award given to Shivarajkumar. But I don't know why so much praises to him. I have seen one of his movies and then and there decided not to watch his movies thereafter. irritating voice, ugly look, hopeless dance. in short there was no acting at all. because of these old ugly nuts so many budding actors are deprived of the opportunities to come forward. taken the vote i feel only a few hard nuts who don't know what is good acting may vote for him. those who have a capability to reason out will never vote to that so called Anna's Son Shivanna. When I watched Jogi in Los Angeles in 2005, I was certain that Shivanna would win the national award for his fabulous performance. Unfortunatley it did not materialize. Anyway, just like his great father, Shivanna makes us proud with his extraordinary talent combined with humility.

I feeling very happy seeing the response of Daijiworld readers showing that Daijiworld readings are very broadminded and appreciate the real hardworking folks in society.

Also remember Shivarajkumar had the guts to act in a film like Thamassu which deals with Hindu Muslim unity. He deserved national award for his acting in this film.
Such films with social message are very important in today's world where certain vested interests are dividing the society on the lines of religion, caste etc..Another film of his Janumadha Jodi which ran for more than 2 years(record at that time) deals with caste differences.

Shivanna you are a living legend and I am very proud of being a fan of you.

These are the comments made by people who are fed on stable diet of hamming (Sharukkhan ) , Show of Attitude (Salman khan ) and making faces in front of camera (Akshay kumar ) in the name of acting. Shivarajlumar is the versatile genious who can put life in toughest of roles like " Thamassu "

Father's name will help only in the first few films, that too to get offers..Shivanna has successfully completed 100 films and has carved a niche for himself in Kannada Industry... Looks does nt matter for an actor..U guys will shamelessly watch that Rajnikanth s movies on first day, laugh at pathetic jokes of Vadivelu, praise the dance of that so called Dalapathy or whatever, but talk about looks of our own Shivanna..Shivanna is a proven actor who has done lot of versatile roles... 4 filmfares and 4 state awards are testimony to that.. Besides, he has given evergreen movies like Om, Jogi, AK47, Nammora Mandaara Hoove, HagaluVesha, Chigurida Kanasu etc.. What is the status of Amitabh Bachchan's son, who after 15-20 films is struggling to give a single solo hit..? What about Raj s second son who failed as a hero? Father s name dont take u anywhere..Its hardwork, determination zest for good movies which help build a successfull career..

Congratulations to Shivanna for his 4th filmfare award..Keep rocking..Waiting for Jogayya..!!

@Praveen Kumar, Mangaluru/Bengaluru i agree with you. Some of the mangaloreans have that in mind. Watching kannada movies is like an insult to them. I will give an example i hardly watch any movies either kannada, english or hindi, but if any very good movie comes will definately watch it irrespective of all the languages. Once i had watched aptamitra kannada movie with my friend on weeknd. It's a very good movie. On the same day i had called my friend staying in mangalore and told him that i had been aptamitra movie, but you know what was his reply. He told me that "what man you started watching kannada movies after you went to blore".

@Calvin, Surathkal/USA i too agree with your comments. Shivanna may not be good looking, but we have to appreciate his acting in the movies like Om, Jogi, Mylari, Janumada Jodi etc. In the same way what about hindi movies it's also a bakwas sometimes, but some people watch it even though it is bakwas. When the same type of movies comes in kannada there will be bunch of comments blaming kannada actors and movies. I feel that now kannada film has also improved a lot. There are good looking heros like Sudeep, Diganth, Darshan, Ganesh etc.

I want to ask people who are commenting against Shivanna for this award. Is there any rule that only good looking people should get the award. Offcourse the beautiness is given by god. I really appreciate Shivanna for this award. Congrats Shivanna. God Bless you.

Its very disturbing Shiv Raj is not appreciated by some people. One can not go personal . Its true in Mangalore many people do not like nowadays Raj Kumar and sons inspite of great contributions of Raj Kumar and great movies. This is evident from the talk and the low turnout in their movies Some feel ashmed to say they like Raj Kumar though they have seen his movies when they were small boys in half pants or so!.
When i was in Mangalore I went to a house . I saw the owner of that house a old man saw me coming near the door & quickly switched off old kannada movie in hurry which he was watching perhaps lonely and switched into the channel to a fashion TV channel where girls were dancing mercilessly and very nicely. He did this to show he is a english liking man . Poor man did not know how to go back to another channel. I helped him to go back to kannada channel where a beautiful movie Shankar Guru was going on!! In Bangalore and mysore even educated people are more open to Kannada . One should be be straightforward as far their month toungue is concerned and open. There is nothing to feel ashamed there. Lets congratulate Shiv Raj son of great yesteryears legend raj kumar.

Is Sharukh Khan a handsome man? When you can respect them why not our great Kannada actor Shivanna? Shivraj Kumar doesn't have any personality, voice or the charisma which are the basic qualities needed to become a hero.. and then comes the acting part. Surprisingly, he is still offered with hero roles. Some times the way he dresses looks horrible.

There are so many good looking, charming youngsters who are neglected because of these oldies and their nexes.
