Mangaluru, April 13: SDPI has complained to the Election Commission of India (EC) alleging that the Ullal MLA and now the Congress candidate for the constituency U T Khader is campaigning in mosques and madrasas.

Pictures of MLA U T Khader speaking in Madani Nagar, Ullal Kodi mosque and madrasas have gone viral.

“This is a violation of the model code of conduct. Campaigning in religious places is not right. The commission should immediately take action against the the candidate,” said SDPI in a complaint registered online.

Officers of the Election Commission visited the mosques and madrasas and conducted spot inspections on the basis of the complaint. The commission has assured the complainant of taking immediate action if there are video footages to that effect.
