Mangaluru, Apr 14: Mohalla meetings are being held in all police stations of the city, as informed by police commissioner Kuldeep Jain.
After the directions of ADGP Alok Kumar, under the police commissioner, mohalla committee meetings are being conducted.
Sharing the information on Twitter, the police commissioner said, “Mohalla meetings are held in all Police stations of Mangalore City. Interaction in such meetings helps in coming more closer to community and also builds confidence. Will keep interacting more. Request all to pls participate in large numbers to share thoughts.”
Earlier on February 9, ADGP Alok Kumar, who had visited the city had said, “During my last visit to Mangaluru, I had instructed to form a mohalla and youth committee which has not been implemented effectively. There is a need to conduct committee meeting which involves people in the age group 18-40. We have 5-6 sensitive police stations in the district and Mangaluru police commissionerate and such meetings in those areas need to be held. The police simply cannot raise their hands and surrender. I cannot ensure its result, but there might be some improvement and keep things under control. If it is done sincerely, then there will be result. Even patrolling by senior officers must be taken up.”
