Bangalore: Maria Susairaj Attains Stardom - Finally!

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Jul 4: For years, she strived for fame. She wanted to be a celebrity, pursued by the paparazzi and pestered for interviews. Well, she has found fame albeit in a twisted, nightmarish way.

Maria Monica Susairaj is in the limelight for all the wrong reasons, yet she is being treated like the 'star' she once aspired to be. When she walked out of jail after spending three years awaiting trial for the murder of Neeraj Grover, the media propelled her to stardom while many others fell over each other to greet her with floral bouquets.

The entire nation is caught up in the murder most gruesome. Is it Susairaj’s glamorous face the reason she is being pursued relentlessly by the media while the two others involved in the case have been pushed into the shadows?

Emile Jerome Mathew continues to languish in jail while Grover’s mortal remains are yet to be laid to rest. Nobody is bothered about the fate of Mathew or the feelings of Grover’s family.

This is the reality and we must either accept it or protest against it. Over time, even truth can look like a lie and a lie can appear to be the truth.

In India, it is the media that makes or breaks people. Any doubt about this will be laid to rest with one look at the case of the 29-year-old Kannada starlet who, unknown outside the Kannada cinema world, went to Mumbai seeking a colourful career.

When Susairaj came to Mumbai in 2008, she met Grover, a media executive who could throw a lifeline to aspiring ‘actors’. Susairaj made his acquaintance in her attempts to further her career. At that time she was already in a relationship with Mathew. This was the start of the love triangle which ended in a brutal murder.

Her dream turned into a nightmare and Susairaj was jailed for three years. Lo, and behold! She becomes famous soon after she walks free from jail, after serving her three years.

Very few people sympathize with her knowing the ‘true’ story of ‘Grover’s 300-piece’ murder case.

Ironically, well-known filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has offered her the lead role in his new venture. For RGV, as he is popularly known, his commercial profit is more important than social concern. He knows that the movie will become a hit as people are willing to come and watch it. Popular TV reality show Bigg Boss too was in the news for having reportedly approached her for its next season, but later the news was denied by Colors channel which telecasts the show.

Public Outrage:

The police have displayed their weakness by not being able to present evidence in a scientific way and botching up the case.  As a result, a gruesome murder of a young man has been termed a simple case of ‘culpable homicide not amounting to murder’.

The murder of Grover is a perfect example of the degeneration of the values in our society. The manner in which Susairaj and Mathew conspired to destroy evidence indicates the working of a criminal mind.

I would like to ask a simple question. Even if you are in a fit of anger, normally sane persons do not kill others. If this were the case murders could be found in every other house. Even when a murder is impulsive, the natural reaction is fear.

The sight of a dead body and blood can be unnerving. But here, Matthew and Susairaj did everything they could to dispose off the body and destroy evidence in a professional manner like hardcore criminals.

It is another matter that the police messed up the case by not conducting a scientific investigation. Logically, Susairaj played the victim card and proved that she is indeed a fine actress off the screen too. The 'damsel in distress' Susairaj playing the role of a victim certainly helped her.

So, the ultimate winner in the whole matter is Susairaj who has emerged unscathed. The three years in jail seem to have just been a three-year waiting period for the impending star status!

Forget about stardom or publicity. She will be a living corpse for the rest of her life. With a stigma of murder in her heart she is not gonna do anything in life. The best thing for her to do is to marry Jerome when he is out of Jail and spend the rest of her life in social service. But will she wait for him for another seven years ??

Promoting criminals so you can make a quick buck is not the way to go. Today if we make her into celebrity. Are we ready to see many more Maria Monica Susairaj down the road? Is this what we want? Maria Monica Susairaj is a murderer, I don’ see an ounce of remorse in her she is an opportunist using her criminal status to promote her career. She might have charmed her way out of the legal system by serving 3 years. Her actions resulted in the gruesome murder of a young man (Chopping him into 300 pieces is not an ordinary crime) I really hope people boycott any movie in which Maria is casted. So we can send a message to young men and women out there looking for name and fame. You are responsible for your actions and crime doesn’t pay…..

I was under the impression that India is soft banana basket.
Now after the verdict of Grover's case, India is not only soft banana basket, but judiciary is not quite matured to pass right judgment...Also our few movie producer/TV owners, not only without any ethics but for cheap publicity, fame and money can go to any extent. Equally we have to blame our public too including ourselves as we are not raising our voice and in the habit of accepting any thing and our Chalta hai attitude.

The murder case of Grover should be reopened and Maria & Jerome both deserve Capital punishment, so that no body should dare to do this type of heinous crime of murder. If not the crime rate in India will increase. I am really agitating within myself of our judiciary system.

Come on Maria, forget everything, ask forgiveness with God for the mistakes you did, start a new life, just think God has given you one more chance to live in this world. Try to serve people rest of your life. Change your life style. I feel pitty for Emil Jerome.

It can be make out by their outfit that neither Maria nor Emile Jerome feel guilty for their deeds. Judgement is very wrong. Maria is also equally responsible for this murder and she deserve far harsher punishment than what she got.

Shame to Indian Judgement!!! She is equally involved in the murder and she took active role for grover's murder, how come she came out clean? If govt is set free for all these criminals, in future no one will trust the judgement. How come a criminal come clean.... she should have hanged to death for supporting her boyfriend for killing innocent son of the parents. How she can sleep for doing such a crime... Is This is an Indian Judgement?

Irrespective of the merits demerits of this case, the continuation of the sad saga of cops, forensics and public prosecutors that can be fixed in our pity pityfull legal system. No wonder people are beginning to have a soft corner for Shariah law...the pain can be felt only when one of our dear ones is at the receiving end.

How can the Court release Maria let her go free and enjoy her life spoiling the lives two men and their families and when she herself was the main cause of the gruesome murder done. and why didnt emile murder his girlfriend, Hadn't she invite neeraj to her house and made him stay overnight, poor neeraj would have been alive and happily living with his old parents. Nobody should give work to Maria and even support her. Media dont support Maria Susairaj and make her a star, she is not worth being a Star, coz Stars are supposed to be shining and helping laymen lead a truthful life.

No doubt, this is a horandous crime. It is quite surprising that females comments are missing in this case! Media report is to attain viewership. In this case, the murdered is closely associated with TV programmes and therefore, the extra pressure is being put by the media on the judiciary for re-trial. This would not have happened if the murdered was a poor person.

All said and done, if I am in Mathew's position, I would have committed more serious crime killing both Maria and Grower. May be the number of pieces would have been more. It seems Maria was successful in convincing Mathew that she is not at fault and Grower forced into her house and blackmailed/raped her. Mathew seems to be an upright person because he believed the a model/actor to be sincere and faithful.

What Maria did is the mindset of a hard core criminal. In no way she can be let off. I am sure Grover family will get justice in higher court.

Meanwhile, people should boycott any film in which Maria is casted.Otherwise, it will inspire other criminal minded people like Maria to do heinous crime, come into limelight and make their career!!!!

    Points media always overlooks-
    1. Exploiting women(or their weakness)promising them bigger roles in movies or serials.
    2. Illicit realtionship which itself was immoral, which finally led to this gruesome murder(one wrong leading to another).
    3. There are always 2 sides of the coin, while only one side is highlighted & other is concealed like moons faces(police create evidence instead of finding one-Arushi murder case was also bungled or botched because of it).
4.The system of having Godfathers to promote leads to all these evils.
Finally it proves we sensationalise murders(crimes) while Good works always get a one line inside page attention(neglect).
