Abu Dhabi, Apr 15: A grand iftar get-together at India Social and Cultural Centre (ISC), organized by Abu Dhabi chapter of Sahebaan, a premier social group representing Urdu speaking Muslim community from the twin districts of Mangaluru and Udupi.
The event began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and sermon by well-known Scholar Abu Sufiyan Madani Masdar edu and charity.
The event was well attended with distinguished guests from Karnataka NRI community from Dubai, Sharjah and other emirates and was fully jam packed.
Althaf M S in his welcome address said, “Sahebaan Abu Dhabi has been conducting iftar every year without fail except during the covid period, thus giving a platform for Sahebaan community to meet and greet, share iftar meal together and pray during this holy month of Ramadhan. We should be thankful to Althaf Khatib and Mohd Asif for Initiating the Sahebaan iftar and thereafter ensuring its continuity till this date.
“Team Sahebaan Abu Dhabi over last so many years has been actively involved in community service, namely extending student scholarships, medical aid, Ramadhan kit distribution and old clothes distribution in liaison with Jamaithul Falah Mangaluru. It is also intended to continue with these welfare activities with everyone’s help and cooperation.
“There is also a plan to set-up NRI centre in Mangaluru, moreover, our sahebaan people have joined hands with empowerment and skill development institutions like ACE IAS Academy Mangaluru which are led by the vibrant and successful Saheban and Beary community in Mangaluru,” he said.
He further added, “Our Saheeban patrons &and leading UAE businessmen Hidayathullah Abbas, Nisar Ahmed and Afroze Assadi were also expected to join us today but could not do so. They have sent in their best wishes for today’s Iftar programme. They have been a strong pillar of support for all our programmes. I take this opportunity to thank them. Let us also pray for their long health and success in whatever they do.”
