Mangaluru, Apr 16: A bizarre incident has been reported from Kallapu near Thokkottu on Saturday, April 15, in the night, when an elderly man fell into the well as he jolted due to sleep and died.

The fall of the elderly man into the well has been recorded on the CCTV camera of the house.

Walter Monteiro (65), a resident of Kallapu is the deceased. He had been to the church on Saturday evening at Thokkottu and had returned home around 7 pm. At about 7.23 pm, Walter, who was sitting on the wall of the well, fell in to the well as he felt sleepy. The family members immediately brought him up through a ladder as the well is not deep.

Walter was taken to hospital immediately but succumbed to injuries received on his head as a result of the fall.

He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Gladson, please note that we are a 130 CR+ population country with 75% of the populace trying "hard to make both ends meet"; hence, my earlier statement has a very wide connotation! Please do your own research and apply some logic and think 😜!!

RIP! It appears this gentleman suffered a heat stroke and lost consciousness before falling in the well!! In recent days, I have come across many cases!! It's highly advisable that people keep themselves well hydrated, avoid exertion, and avoid going out in the blazing ☀️ as the temperatures have gone periliously high; avoid going to crowded/stuffy places, sitting in cars, with poor cross ventilation; avoid wearing suits or tight fitting synthetic clothes (in one's own interest), avoid excessive alcoholic beverages; because when the body temperature control mechanism goes haywire (body temperature goes beyond 40°C), it becomes a life threatening situation unless immediate measures are taken to bring it down!!

Nobody, after reaching his home, would sit on the well wall if he is feeling sleepy; rather go to his room and sleep unless otherwise he is in an altered state of mind!!
