Bangalore: Valerian Fernandes Re-Elected as Chairman of FKCA

Bangalore, July 4: Valerian Fernandes has been unanimously re-elected as the chairman of the Federation of Konkani Catholic Associations (FKCA) during its 14th AGM which was held at Konkan Bhavan, here on Sunday July 3.

Philomena Pereira and Ronald Cutinha were re-elected as general secretary and treasurer respectively.
Gabriel Vaz, former editor of Economic Times, was the returning officer and conducted the election procedure.


Earlier the acting chairman Valerian Fernandes welcomed the representatives of member associations present at the AGM. Secretary Philomena Pereira presented the annual report. Treasurer Ronald Cutinha presented the financial report of the year.

Chief guest Austine Roche, ex-chairman of FKCA, spoke a few words and expressed his happiness over the Federation getting stronger day by day. The presidents of member associations present were given opportunity to speak about their associations and express concerns regarding the Federation. Stephen Machado, the president of the newly joined association - Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), was given a warm welcome by the chairman by presenting him a bouquet.

The new office bearers are as follows:

Vice Chairman 1 - Aida D'Cunha
Vice Chairman 2 - Naveen D'Souza
Treasurer - Ronald Cutinha
Joint Secretary -1 - Robert Cutinha
Joint Secretary -2 - Reshma Lobo
Cultural Secretary - Lesli Fernandes
Legal Advisor - Jerome D'Souza
Media Manager - Vinod Saldanha
Spiritual Director - Rev Fr. VJ Menezes

About FKCA

Federation is in its 14th year of existence. 27 Konkani associations have already been affiliated to the Federation and many more are in a process of affiliating to the Federation. Main aim of the Federation is to unite all the Konkani Catholics, bring political awareness and fight for social justice. FKCA has been honouring the eminent personalities from community through its annual awards for entrepreneurship, professional excellence and lifetime achievement. FKCA has launched a low cost housing project, free placement service and matrimonial service through its website www.fkca.net. The Federation is also fostering enterpreneurship in the region through the formation of Kanara Enterpreneurs (KE), Bangalore, which is affiliated to KEL Global.
