Bangalore: Yeddy Admits to Allotting Land to Relatives on ‘Compassionate Grounds'

Bangalore, Jul 4: In response to the Janata Dal (S) party's fresh allegation that he allotted land to 10 of his relatives for a very 'low’ price, Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has admitted that he did allot land to four of his relatives, but on ‘compassionate grounds’.

But chief minister has any kind of illegality in the allotment of plots. The Plots have been developed by Mysore Development Authority.

He said that of the 10 people, only four were his relatives. ”I do not know the other six. They are not related to me," he told reporters here.

"I have asked Mysore deputy commissioner to send me a report on the other six," he said.
The chief minister had landed in a major row last year when it became public that he had allotted prime residential and commercial land in and around Bangalore to his sons, daughter, sister, and her daughter and son-in-law.

One of his sons, B Y Raghavendra is a Bharatiya Janata Party Lok Sabha member from Karnataka.

Yeddyurappa made his relatives surrender the lands as the controversy embarrassed the BJP at the height of its battle with the central government over the 2G spectrum allotment and CWG scandals.
