Mangalore: For Kambala Lovers : 2011 - 12 Calendar of Events

Moodbidri, Jul 4: Belvai Sadanand Shetty was elected new president of the Kambala committee of the undivided Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod districts during the elections held here on Monday July 4.  He was the vice-president of the same Kambala committee. Dr Jeevandar Ballal is the outgoing president who served the committee in that capacity for a decade.  

Gunapal Kadamba was re-elected as secretary of the committee.

Suratkal Gopalakrishna Prabhu, Mahakalibettu Sitaram Shetty, Chandrahas Rai Puttur, Madwa Chandrahas Rai, and Edu Ashok Kumar Jain were elected as vice-presidents.

Yedapadav College sports director Navin Amburi and lawyer Suresh K Poojary were elected secretaries.  Chandrahas Sanil and Sanoor Sridar Acharya were elected as joint secretaries.

Kambala committee of undivided Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod districts announced the schedule for the upcoming season 2011 – 12, after discussions held at Hotel Pancharatna here on Monday July 4, under the leadership of newly-elected president Belvai Sadananda Shetty and secretary Gunapal Kadamba.

December 10: Baradi - Karkala 
December 17: Hokkadigoli
December 25: Mulki Seeme Arasu Kambala
December 31: Venur- Permude
January 7 2012: Miyar - Karkala
January 15: Nandikur, near Padubidri
January 21: Moodbidri
January 28: Katpady
February 4: Aikala Bhava, near Kinnigoli
February 11: Pilikula
February 18: Fajir / Kellaputtige
February 25: Edu, near Hosmar in Karkala taluk
March 4: Puttur
March 10: Jappinamogaru in Mangalore
March 18: Uppinangady
March 24: Bangady

    Im looking forward to seeing the Kambala at Fajir / Kellaputtige but I can only be there on the 19 th February which is a Sunday does anyone know if I will still be able to see any buffalo racing?

    This session of the parliament the bill against animal cruelty will be passed. If applied to the manner the buffalos are cruelly treated during the kambala all these committee members either be in prison or paying a good sum of money.

    looks like there is politics in Kambala as well some of the Kambala's like Kadri Kambala, Surya-chandra Shirva, Jaya-vijaya Bantawal is missing from the list. Cudos to the politicians and parties to interfere in the traditional spots as well.

    Historical VANDAR KAMBLA is missing from the list. Looks like only commercial kamblas have managed find a place in the list.

    The historically famous Mangalore City's only one Kadri Kambala date is missed in 2011 - 12 Calendar of Kambala Events....

    So sad news..

    Pls add this name...

    Its coming in every year first or second Sunday of December....
