Mangaluru, Apr 18: Sitting BJP Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Y Shetty filed his nomination papers for the upcoming legislative assembly elections here at Mangaluru taluk office on Tuesday April 18.
Before filing the nomination, Dr Shetty offered pooja rituals and took blessings at Kavoor temple in the presence of party representatives and supporters.
Later, a large number of people gathered for a foot march from Kavoor Sri Mahalingeshwara temple to Kavoor ground where a public meet was organized.
Meanwhile, Ashok Shetty, Purandar Das Kulur and Shashikala joined the BJP.
BJP leader Tilak Raj said, “Dr Bharath Shetty has successfully completed five years. We need to give him opportunity to lead for the next five years. As an MLA, he has responded to the people and worked for overall development. Last election, he had won with the margin of 26,000 votes and this time, he should be victorious with a margin of more than 50,000 votes.”
Dr Shetty said, “Due to the support of people, I got a chance to becone an MLA for five years. Being a doctor, I was new to politics. I am fortunate to get support from the senior leaders. I am not the only reason for development. The entire development took place out of team work which is the culture of our party.”
Mayor Jayanand Anchan, BJP leaders Ganesh Hosabettu, Pooja Pai, Krishna Shetty Kadaba, Rajeeva Kanchan and others were present.
