To Sadik, Africa, Nobody learns a lesson through someone's death/loss. Please donot pass such comments that would hurt her family and friends. They are already going thru enough pain. Instead, think of the ways you can improve your city. The local authority should think of ways to get rid of stray dogs and there should be introduction of licence if you want to own a dog. For licence, there should not be any fee but a simple procedure where you can register the details of the owner and the dog. Atleast then you can get rid of all other dogs,

I am not pro killing of dogs but the local authorities can encourage people to adopt puppies. It is a sad incidence and I dont think we need to comment on religion, politics, whos right and whos not etc at least on this incidence.

Anner : Kudla : For your information, I always wore the helmet when I was driving the two wheeler, and now that I am driving a car, I always put the seat belt on and asks my co-passengers to do so, and I don`t condone who do not follow this rule either! Of course, in wearing the helmet or putting the seat belt on, there is no guarantee as such that one`s life will be saved in the event of an accident, only it will minimise the risk. I feel that the Traffic Police in Mangalore should strictly enforce this rule. By the way, I still emphasize my earlier observation with regard to the stray dogs on the streets, who are a great menace and danger to the motorists, and the authorities should do something about them urgently, as also suggested by quite a few other commentators.

Due to Menaka Ghandhi rule nowadays the municipality cant kill the dogs like earlier, which has become a big menace in the city. A 7 year old neighbor of mine was bitten by 4-5 dogs a year back, some days back a 5 yr old boy was killed in Bangalore. I myself was chased by 3-4 dogs near bolar 10 days back during my visit in Mangalore. I think its high time for the Govt/Municipality to take some serious action about these stray dogs. Or let them parcel all the dogs to Menaka Ghandhi’s house and let her take care of it.

These stray dogs are a menace. MCC must initiate action to clear the roads of stray dogs. In this case who will compensate for the life of this youngester who had a promisng future ahead of her. What kind of justification can the parents find to console themselves? Who is responsible for this tragedy? This is utter 3rd world kind of episode. In advanced and civilised society, a driver is never blamed for this kind of incident. The responsibility lies on the MCC, and the dog owners.

Parents should always keen on advising their young ones to drive vehicles keepting safety aspect in mind.Wearing helmet and keeping ears and eyes open is very much essential. For youngsters over confidence is the bid danger. Most of the accidents happen for negiligent driving only.

very sad, what a tragedy just to save the animal's life she had to give her life, yesterday also one young student from Kerala died from a accident. We should be very careful while driving car's or bike's. Even car with a power steering is very dangerous. once I escaped a major tragedy. I was driving on a single road, the speed was about 80 kilometer's, as I saw a timber piece on the road I tried to avoid it by turning the steering wheel suddenly, as it was power steering it went very quickly to one side, after that I could not control the car. It was just swaying to the right and left while I was trying to straighten it by turning. Luckily there were no car's coming from the opposite side, then finally it went off the road and fell down. Good thing was it did not topple, only one tyre went flat.

When I was living in Pune way back in the early 1980`s, there used to be a lot of stray dogs on the road, and the Pune Municipal Council (PMC) Workers used to go around with their nets and catch those dogs and put them in the cages and take them away to the dog houses. Perhaps, MCC should also follow the same example! Also, the dog owners should be made more responsible to take care of their dogs etc, and if they let them out unattended, heavy fines should be levied on them!.

Very sad news. May the deposed soul of Akhila George rest in peace and my sympathies to her parents and dear ones. I also was involved in a road accident, way back, caused by the dog, similar to that of being experienced by Antony Arun, and also sadly by Akhila George.

In my case, the dog was standing at the side of the road and suddenly it turned and started crossing the road, when it came under my scooter all of a sudden. I and my young son were thrown out (luckily I was on slow speed),but my wife got injured and had a fractured leg - she was wearing the saree and it got stuck into the starter lever and thus her leg came under the scooter. The dogs and animals are very unpredictable and one has to be very careful while passing through them. At least in the four wheeler, you have some chance of survival, but in the two wheelers, you have virtually none, especially if you are driving fast.
