Puttur, Apr 20: Lady Luck smiled on elderly retired tailor Ananda Tailor (72), residing near Gandhi Park in Uppinangady, who was facing enormous difficulties in life, in the form of Karunya lottery of Kerala state. He won the first prize of Rs 80 lac.
Ananda worked as tailor for more than 30 years. He was also the gram panchayat member and vice president for one term. However, he had to give up his profession due to illness he developed in his legs.
Ananda’s wife is a home maker. He has one daughter and two sons. Daughter has been given in marriage to Neeleshwara in Kerala. Both sons are working and were pillars of the family.
Ananda did not have any addiction of buying lottery tickets. Once in a while when he used to visit his daughter’s house in Kerala, he used to buy Kerala state lottery tickets. Similarly, when he had been to his daughter’s house last week, he had bought a Karunya ticket and won the first prize of Rs 80 lac in the draw that took place on April 15. He will get Rs 56 lac after deducting taxes.
