Doha: 50-year-old Bernard Shingare Dies in Hit-and-run Accident

Doha: 50-year-old Bernard Shingare Dies in Hit-and-run Accident

Alexis Castelino
Daijiworld Media Network - Doha

Doha, Jul 5: Bernard Shingare (50) of Mumbai, an employee of Qatar Petroleum, was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Doha on Sunday July 3.

It is said that Bernard, a pipeline inspector, had been to Abu Samra on routine inspection, when a heavy vehicle hit him and fled. The Pakistani driver of the vehicle has been caught.

Sadly, the accident came to light only when his family members panicked when he did not return home from duty and started searching. His damaged vehicle was found the next day and upon informing the police, they informed them about the tragedy and that Bernard's body was in Hamad hospital.

Fresh reports reaching Daijiworld said that the accident occurred when the driver of a speeding trailer lost control over his vehicle following a tyre burst and collided with Bernard’s car. The impact of the accident was such that Bernard’s car was damaged completely and Bernard sustained fatal injuries. It is further gathered that onlookers immediately summoned the police who then shifted Bernard to a nearby health centre. But as soon it was realized that Bernard’s condition was too critical to be treated there, he was moved to Hamad Hospital. However, he breathed his last on the way and was declared dead at the Hamad hospital.

Son of the late John and Philomena Shingare, Bernard is survived by his wife Deena, a Mangaloeran, daughter Vanessa, and siblings Robert, Paul and Margaret. He was the son-in-law of Stanly and Severine Rodrigues.

Bernard was working for Qatar Petroleum for the last 20 years.

Family members of Deceased Bernard arrived to Doha this on Tuesday July 5.

A condolence Mass will be offered at 6.45 pm at the Holy rosary church, Qatar on Wednesday July 6.

Funeral will be at Mumbai Holy Family Church, Pestom Sagar Chembur/Mumbai. Further details will be announced later.

When we lose someone we love, it seems that time stands still, what moves through you today is a silence, a quite sadness, you may not understand why he left you so soon before you were ready to say good-bye.. .but remember not just that he died but that He lived. Bernard it’s just impossible to accept that you are no more with us. You have left us physically but your presence still lingers in our hearts and minds. I cannot imagine that you will not be there to talk with me on Fridays about photography during the catechism classes of our children. You were a source of inspiration and constant encouragement behind my passion for photography. Your immense knowledge regarding the minute details of photography still amazes me. From now on, every time I pick my camera, you will not cease to sadden me and I will never be able to believe that you won’t talk to me anymore. The amount of hours we spent in chatting with each other, will never allow me to accept that you are not in our midst. You came in our life like a soothing breeze but your demise has shaken us. The void created by your departure will never be filled. Adieu friend…hope to meet you on those beautiful promised shores one day…May your soul rest in peace…

My heartfelt and very deep condolence to Mr. Bernad's family.

When I got an e-mail from my good
friend Mr. Oliver Sutari that his
    wife's sister's husband was killed
in an automobile accident, I was
    really shocked. Only God can
give peace at their deeply hurting
    and suffering situation of life.
It is very heartbreaking to read such
    news especially of somebody we
know. We will be praying for the
    family.

Bernard was the husband of my wife's sister. From the time we received the harrowing and tragic news yesterday, our world seems to have turned upside down. While for some the news has sunk in, others are still in a state of shock. During our tenure in Qatar, we have spent many, many weekends with Bernard and his family. For us it was them, and for them it was us. The picture of his mangled car initially sent a chill down our spines. It also provided some comfort knowing that his life would have been taken away instantaneously and painlessly - atleast that is what we all hope. I have no doubt that Bernard has left behind friends who will be saddened. I ask them to pray for his soul to find a place in God's heavenly kingdom and for his family to receive God's comforting grace. As heartless as it is for someone to run away, no member of our families have expressed anger towards the driver. As we truly care for her, we pray that his wife, Deena, will find the grace to forgive the driver. We know in our hearts that she will.

It was really shocking to hear the demise of our dear brother, may god bless his soul and give strength to Deena Vainni & Vanessa. It's really time for the Govt. authorities in Gulf to think and issue the licenses to this heavy drivers as they are playing with the innoncent life of people with their rash driving. The rash driving takes the life of innocent people for whom their dear ones wait eagerly at home.
Hope and my prayer to God nobody ever have to go through this experience in future.
