Udupi, Apr 23: A case has been filed against two individuals who were allegedly obstructing policemen on duty and foul-mouthing them near the Someshwara check post of Nadpalu village on the night of April 19.
According to reports, ASI Mahalinga of the Hebri police station and constables Rahmatullah, Suresh, and Haleshappa were conducting a vehicle check at the Someshwara check post around 10 pm on April 19. While inspecting vehicles, a Leyland pickup truck coming from Agumbe collided with PCs Rahmatullah and Krishna Achari due to the driver's rash and negligent driving.
When ASI Mahalinga called for an ambulance to transport the injured PCs to the hospital, he found out that the ambulance was delayed as it was in Perdoor. He then stopped a car from Agumbe and requested the two individuals inside to take the injured policemen to the hospital. However, the two individuals pushed the ASI and other personnel and verbally abused them, stating that the police live on public alms and do not have the right to stop their car. As the locals began to gather, the duo fled the scene.
Further investigation is being carried out by the Hebri police.
