Udupi, Apr 23: After the nominations were scrutinised for the upcoming legislative assembly elections, 42 candidates remain in the fray for the five MLA positions in the district. Three nominations were rejected.
In Udupi legislative constituency, there are nine candidates in the fray. One woman candidate is contesting from this constituency. Dakshath R Shetty is contesting on JD (S) ticket, Prabhakar Poojary on AAP, Prasad Raj Kanchan on Congress, Yashpal Suvarna on BJP, Nitin V Poojary on Uttama Prajakiya party, Ramdas Bhat on Karnataka Rashtra Samiti, Shekhar Havanje on Republican Party of India ticket. Krishnamurthy Acharya and Deena Prabhakar are contesting as Independent candidates.
In the Kaup legislative assembly constituency seven candidates including one woman are contesting. Gurme Suresh Shetty is contesting on the BJP ticket, while Vinay Kumar Sorake from Congress, Sabina Samad from JD (S), Stephen Richard Lobo from AAP, Mohammed Hanif from SDPI tickets. Abdul Razak Shaban Ahmed and Abdul Rahiman are contesting as independent candidates.
In Karkala legislative constituency, 11 candidates including two women are in the fray. Uday Shetty is contesting on the Congress ticket, Srikanth Poojary on JD (S), V Sunil Kumar on BJP, Arun Deepak Mendonca from Uttama Prajakiya Paksha ticket. Krishna Shetty, Pramod Mutalik, Dr Mamata Hegde, Vidyalaxmi, Sudhakara Acharya and Harish Adhikari are contesting as independent candidates.
Six candidates are contesting for the Kundapura legislative assembly seat. Kiran Kumar Kodgi is contesting on the BJP ticket, Jayaraj on AAP, Dinesh from Congress, Ramesh from Janata Dal, Arun Deepak Mendonca from Uttama Prajakiya Paksha. Chandra Harijana is contesting as an independent candidate.
In Byndoor constituency, nine candidates are contesting. Gururaj Shetty is contesting on the BJP ticket, K Gopal Poojary from Congress, Mansoor Ibrahim of Janata Dal, Ramananda Prabhu from AAP, Kollur Manjunatha Nayak from Rashtriya Janata Dal. Chandra Harijana, Shyama B and H Suresh Poojary are contesting as independent candidates.
