Mangaluru, Apr 26: AICC general secretary K C Venugopal announced that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will address a massive rally in city on Thursday, April 26. The rally will see participation from the public, party workers, and leaders.
Venugopal stated that the public in Karnataka has decided to bring the Congress to power and that people favor Congress. He claimed that with a complete majority, Congress would come to power, as the BJP is in a pitiable condition in the state, with no contribution to show for its governance.
Taking a jab at union home minister Amit Shah for his statement that the people of Karnataka should hand over the state to Modi, Venugopal questioned who had been ruling the state for the last three years. He pointed out that people did not elect the BJP to power even in the previous elections, but they came to power through horse-trading. Subsequently, the government became involved in massive corruption and became known as a "40% commission government," a term coined by the people of the state.
Venugopal alleged that Chief Minister Bommai has broken the record for corruption during his tenure, and questioned what the BJP had done for South Canara. He claimed that the BJP ruled with anger and fights and did not create employment opportunities for the district's youth. According to him, their contribution to Mangaluru is zero.
Venugopal also stated that if Congress comes to power, it will fulfill its four major promises in the first assembly itself, and the government will work without corruption. He added that the results of the 2013 election would repeat even in this election, as people are aware of how the BJP treated Rahul Gandhi. He affirmed that Rahul Gandhi would continue his struggle for truth despite his fears.
The DCC president and MLC Harish Kumar, H Padmaraj, and others were present at the rally.
