Mangaluru, Apr 28: Congress wants the coastal region to become an IT, Textile, and Tourism hub that is even bigger than Bengaluru and Mysuru, and that the youth of the region should be employed, said former MP and AICC leader Dr Ajay Kumar.
Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan on Friday, April 28, he stated that the region has intelligent people and enormous potential.
Kumar said, "People in the region should contemplate why companies are not coming forward to invest in the coastal region when they do it in Bengaluru, Mysuru, and other parts of the country. It is because the BJP is hindering them through their polarising communal politics. Due to insecurity, investors are not coming forward to invest in the region. The people in the region are very brilliant. The people of Mangaluru are the prettiest people in the entire country, and they have excelled in the art and science fields."
He gave an example of communal harmony, stating that Mangaluru Jasmine is famous, cultivated by Christians, sold by Muslims, and worn by Hindus.
Kumar further said, "Congress wants to develop this region. Despite plenty of opportunities to generate revenue and provide employment like Delhi and Mumbai, Mangaluru is still lagging without development. By developing this region, Congress wants the coastal region to return to its old glory of communal harmony from radical politics."
Kumar slammed the BJP and mentioned that Congress giving 10 kg of free rice is not a freebie, as if a family gets free rice, their expenditure will be saved, and it can be used for other purposes. He questioned why it pains the BJP that 10% of the rich are being developed, and not just the 90% middle class and poor of the country. He also questioned why Modi gets a stomach ache when it is given to the poor.
