Mangaluru, May 10: Tension erupted at Moodushedde gram panchayath limits as a scuffle broke out between workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress on Wednesday, .
The incident occurred during the visit of Congress candidate Mithun Rai to the area, leading to a clash between Congress workers and BJP workers. The scuffle escalated, with stones being pelted, resulting in injuries to both police personnel and civilians. Additionally, a police vehicle was damaged during the chaos.
Moodushedde falls within the Mulky Moodabidiri constituency, further intensifying the political implications of the incident. Witnesses allege that two individuals were injured, including a woman who was reportedly assaulted. The clash between the two political factions was marked by the exchange of slogans both in support and against the respective parties. In an attempt to restore order, Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) platoons were deployed to the scene.
As tensions rose and the situation threatened to spiral out of control, the authorities intervened to contain the violence. The police are conducting an investigation into the scuffle and working to identify those responsible for instigating the clash.
