Mangaluru, May 13: The counting of votes for the 2023 state Assembly election results will be held at NITK, Surathkal on Saturday May 13.
The postal voting counting will start at 8 am and EVM counting will start at 8:30 am. Elaborate arrangements have been made for candidate or candidate agent to sit beside the returning officers. CCTVs been set up at every table at the counting hall which will be viewed by the central and state election commission to keep an eye on any loopholes.
Electronic gadgets for political leaders and agents are restricted. The security is tightened with 300 head constables, 14 inspectors, 2 DCP, 400 civil police, 39 ASI, 200 home guards, CAR 4 platoons, KSRP platoons and CAPF platoons at the counting centre.
Each constituencies will have 16-18 rounds of counting. As many as 20,150 postal votes have been received which is expected to cross 22,000 by May 13 morning.
A total of 544 staffs are appointed for the counting process.
The keys of strong room of Mangaluru North were reportedly misplaced by the officials. The door was broken open with the help of a carpenter.
