Bengaluru, May 22: Warmly greeting Congress party’s newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar in the assembly hall on Monday, former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai challenged the Siddaramaiah government to prove the 40% Commission charge against the BJP regime.
Former BJP minister R Ashok, who had also contested against Shivakumar from his traditional Kanakapura assembly constituency and lost while winning from Padmanabhanagara, also joined Bommai in greeting Shivakumar.
Speaking to media persons, Bommai challenged the Congress regime to probe the 40% Commission charge and prove the allegation with documentary evidence.
“State Contractors’ Association President Kempanna, who was the first person to level the charge and even send a complaint to Prime Minister Narendra Modi must ensure that all the contractors reduce the government contract amount by 40% and prove that the charge. Otherwise, it is obvious that the 40% commission is still continued,’’ Bommai said.
The BJP leader demanded that the 40% commission charge as well as the PSI scam must be probed. The government must probe all the charges levelled against BJP and bring out the truth, he said.
Bommai said the BJP has already conducted an introspection over the defeat and has obtained details from all districts. There have lapses in some districts, which will be rectified.
All the BJP leaders will be touring the entire State and take steps to strengthen the party, he said.
The former chief minister blamed BBMP officials for the death of the woman in the underpass at KR Circle in the city due to heavy rains and waterlogging on Sunday.
He also accused the BBMP officials for their failure to rush to the spot immediately and take suitable steps. With rains forecast for the next five days, it is necessary to be prepared and even ensure that all the drains, underpasses are cleared and fallen trees removed, he added.
