Bengaluru, May 23: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday, May 22, ordered to stop all projects sanctioned by the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and placed them under review.
An order issued from the CM's office said, "All further release / payments of departments and corporations / boards / authorities under the departments in respect of all the works undertaken by the previous government are to be stopped with immediate effect and all works which have not started are also to be stopped."
Siddaramaiah's decision is said to have been taken based on complaints by MLAs, MLCs and people that several works sanctioned by the BJP government lack sanctity and have no approvals, according to the CMO.
Minister M B Patil said a probe will be conducted against charges of corruption of the previous government.
The order also said a majority of the new works which have been sanctioned by the Bommai government but have now been put on hold are those which were cleared post the model code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of India.
