Mangaluru, May 25: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) co-ordinator and former corporator Pratibha Kulai and others on Thursday May 25 submitted a memorandum to IGP of Western Range Dr Chandra Gupta and demanded to initiate stringent action against BJP MLA Harish Poonja of Beltangady for commenting in a public gathering that chief minister (CM) Siddaramaiah had murdered 24 Hindus in his past rule as a CM.
Speaking to media Pratibha Kulai said, "We condemn such ill statements made on the present CM and Congress leader. The BJP MLAs are polarising the society through hatred.
“The BJP leaders are well known for creating issues and ending them too. For example, they created the issue of Urigowda-Nanjegowda in the state. They should be fixed with a proper communicating wire between their mind and tongue.
“Years ago, Poonja had hurled eggs at a woman. We too have the collection of the same eggs, but they are now rotten. In case, if such statements are made in future, we will teach the offenders a proper lesson. Moreover, our government is at power in the state, she said.
Kulai alleged, “Poonja who claims that he does not need Muslim votes had sold his gas agency situated in Surathkal to a Muslim. He goes to the Muslims’ residences through the 'backdoor' and consumes Ney Choru (ghee rice) there. He had allotted grants to Muslims.”
She also added that the IGP had assured them of a proper action from the police department in this regard. “No should be spared if law is taken into hands. Hence we hope that we will get justice very soon,” she said.
