Kadaba, May 27: An entrepreneur of Alankar in the taluk jumped from bridge at Shantimogeru into Kumaradhara river and killed himself on Friday May 26.
The deceased is identified as Chandrashekhara Alankaru (67), the president of toddy tappers’ association of Alankaru and resident of vicinity of Sri Bharathi school of Alankaru. He tied a balloon to his waist before jumping into the river.
Chandrashekhara arrived in his car on the early morning and parked his car on the bridge and jumped into the river. Probably he had tied the balloons to his waist in order for his body to be traced immediately.
When family members could not find Chandrashekhara in the morning, they started to search for him and found his car on the bridge. Later, the balloon could be seen floating in the river. His body was brought out of the water with the help of public.
Gananath, son of Chandrashekhara, in his complaint filed with police said that his father was under mental depression of late and was speaking of frustration in life. For the same reason he might have killed himself.
Deceased Chandrashekhara was actively participating in Billawa organizations and served for long time in the administrative committee of Sri Durgaparameshwari temple of Sharavoor. On Thursday night too, he had been to Sri Durgaparameshwari temple and offered special pooja.
Chandrashekhara owned hardware shop at Alangaru. He was a Yakshagana artiste also. He is survived by wife and two sons. It is said that he has also written a death note before taking the extreme step.
