Mangalore: Stan Ageira to be Conferred Konkani Kuttam, Bahrain Award

Mangalore, Jul 15: Stan Ageira, Konkani short story writer and Daijiworld columnist has been chosen for this year's Konkani Kuttam, Bahrain award. This was announced by Richard Moras, convenor, Konkani Kuttam, Bahrain during a press conference held at the Press Club, Mangalore on July 15.
The award which carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a citation and a memento will be bestowed upon Stan Ageira during a function which will be held on July 23 at the St Sebstian Church Hall, Bendore, Mangalore at 7 pm.
Fr Prashanth Madtha, ex-principal of St Aloysius College, a Kannada as well as Konkani writer, will preside over the function. Edwin J F D'Souza, Konkani novelist will be the chief guest.
About Stan Ageira
Stan Ageira was born on May 3, 1961 in Mangalore. He did his MBA from IBAM, New Delhi and later shifted to Dubai. A prolific writer who loves to travel, he has published works in English, Kannada and Konkani.
His first published Konkani article was a short story printed in Mangalore Diocese weekly Raknno 1975. Since then over 300 Konkani short stories by him have been published in various periodicals like Raknno, Sevak, Poinari, Kannik, Mithr, Jhelo, Umallo, Kurov, Divo, Jivit, Sankal, Kutam, Dirvem, etc.
His articles have also been published in Kannada magazines like Mayura, Taranga and newspapers like Udayavani. He has been regularly published in English magazines like Womans Era, Alive and Daijiworld.com
Twenty of his stories published in Daijiworld.com were selected for publication by US-based Raider Publications and published in April 2010 with the title, ‘Tea, Coffee & Cheesecake’
Besides being a renowned short story writer, he is also a widely-read novelist. He has 18 novels to his credit - Nitidaar, Hen Sat Javnasa, Piso Sansaar, Farman, Pimento, Shikari, Sodhnam, Gharshan, Badlanatllo Ganv, Spardhi Ani Pratispardhi, Asaadhy, Parsi, Svavalambi, Kuris Apna Apnacho, Nalisai, Shimpadlelim Paanam, Kalza Udi and Hi Maji Dhanvnim.
Bindaas (published by Daijiworld), Tambdi Mirsaang (published by Hemacharya’s Ujwal Publications) and Cha-Kaapi (published by Raknno) are some of his other Konkani works.
During 1980-1990 he appeared for Konkani programmes for Akashavani Mangalore and Akashavani Mumbai. He has produced and acted in Kannada tele serials aired on Doordarshan, Bangalore.
He is the recepient of several awards and honours including those from Goa Konkani Basha Mandal, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Daaiz Writer of the Year
Ageira has also written four stage plays which have been presented in Mulki, in the outskirts of Mangalore and in Dubai. A non-stop comedy ‘Kasaale Grachchar Saiba’ was presented in Dubai during Daiji Dubai’s 11th anniversary at Emirates Theatre.
