Kasargod, May 28: A man, a resident of Tirur, who operated a hotel in Olavanna, Calicut, was brutally murdered. His body was chopped and concealed in two trolley suitcases before being dumped in a valley. The Malappuram Police have arrested four individuals, including an 18-year-old girl from Chennai, in connection with the crime.
The victim, Muccheri Siddique (58), was the one who was murdered. The arrested suspects have been identified as Shibili (22), Farhana (18), Gafoor (Farhana's brother), and Aashique.
With the assistance of the fire service personnel, the police retrieved the trolley bag from the valley located at the ninth bend of Attappady.
According to preliminary investigations, the accused had booked a room at the De Cas Inn hotel in Calicut on May 18. The victim, Siddique, had also booked two rooms in the same hotel. As per the police's initial findings, the accused and Siddique stayed in the same room.
Siddique was murdered inside the hotel, and his body was dismembered and placed in two trolley bags, which were subsequently thrown into the Attappady valley on May 19. An electric cutter was used to dismember the body. The act of transporting the body in suitcases was captured on the hotel's CCTV footage.
After disposing of the trolley bags in Attappady, the accused fled to Chennai. On May 24, Siddique's son filed a missing person complaint with the police. Siddique's mobile phone had been switched off since the day of the crime. The complaint also mentioned that Rs two lakh had been withdrawn using Siddique's ATM card. Based on the evidence, including the last call made by Siddique from his mobile phone in Calicut, the police were able to track the case.
