Beltangady: Retired ACP Surya Guthu Subhashchandra passes away

Mangaluru, May 31: Retired ACP and hereditary trustee of Surya Shree Sadashiva Rudra temple of Beltangady Surya Guthu Subhashchandra (70) died in a private hospital early in the morning on May 31 due to brief illness.

Subashchandra is survived by wife, one son and brother, secretary of SDM group of educational institutions Dr S Sathishchandra.

Subhashchandra joined the police department in 1979 as sub inspector. Later, he served in Bengaluru, Madikeri, Karwar, Udupi, Mangaluru, Beltangady and Puttur. He was honoured with a CMs medal in 2008 for the unique service he rendered to the police department. He also took part in the peacekeeping force of UNO at Kosovo for one year.

Mortal remains of late Subhashchandra will be kept for public viewing at his residence at Phalguninagar in Ashoknagar in the city till 8.30 am on May 31. The last rites will be held at his native place of Suryaguthu in the noon.
