Kaup, May 31: Artificial flood affected in the vicinity of the bus stand near Kaup Vidyaniketana educational institute by the side of NH 66 due to the one hour of rain that lashed in the morning on Tuesday.
As the rain water was flowing on the road, vehicle riders had to drive in fear of getting stuck in a pothole or water damaging parts of the vehicle.
Most of the two-wheeler riders took shelter in the nearby bus stop. However, the rain water started rising around the bus stand. This panicked everyone taking shelter at the bus stand. Most of the two-wheelers were sunk in water and the riders had a tough time to start the engine.
Locals say that this artificial flood is the result of unscientific road work done on the national highway. Some shops and nearly 20 houses are located behind the bus stand. People living in this area face a lot of hardship during the rainy season as the rain water enters the house and damages all household items.
There is a government higher primary school also in the vicinity. Children studying in this school also are inconvenienced. This issue has persisted since many years. Though locals have raised complaints with the town municipality, taluk administration, NHAI and Navayuga company, no one is bothered to resolve the same according to the opinion of the locals of the area.
