Mangaluru, May 31: Children attended school after spending two months of summer holidays. Teachers had arrived two days earlier to get the classrooms ready. The schools are decorated with leaves and flowers to welcome the students.
Though schools have begun functioning from Monday, official opening of the new academic year began on Wednesday. Teachers were ready with uniforms to be distributed to the students as well as text books and also welcomed the children.
The government had begun the last academic year of 2022-23 before June in order to cover up for the loss in time due to Covid. However, this year the schools are reopening on usual time.
More than three lac students from first grade to SSLC, studying in 1881 government, private and aided schools of Dakshina Kannada will attend their classes.
Dayananda Nayak, DDPI of Dakshina Kannada said, “There is a festive mood in schools across the district. All preparations are done to welcome the students in a cordial manner. Mid-day meals will also be provided in addition to text books and school uniforms.”
