Mangaluru, Jun 4: City police commissioner Kuldeep Kumar Jain informed that people who are involved in moral policing acts in the past are identified and the process of getting bail undertakings signed by them not to involve in such acts in future is in progress.
Replying to a query from the media, Jain said, “As a precaution bail undertaking will be taken under CrPc section 107 and 110. So far the same is taken from 1,200 people who were involved in moral policing acts that have occurred in the past. The period of bail undertaking is one year. If required this will be extended. If anyone violates the undertaking one more case will be filed and they will be taken into judicial custody.

“Rs 1.90 lac is sent to the state government treasury as nine people violated the bail undertaking last year. Last year, 62 rowdy sheeters were banished from the commissionerate limits and their movements are continuously monitored. Compared to other parts of Karnataka, the highest number of rowdy sheeters are banished from Dakshina Kannada,” he said.
The commissioner also informed that police patrolling is increased in areas like beaches and malls where huge crowds gather. Anyone violating law will be dealt with strictly, he said.
