Udupi, Jun 5: MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary said that no changes should be made to Cow Slaughter Prohibition Act which has been in force for many years.
Addressing newspersons here on Monday, June 5, he said, “When Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was ruling, it brought the Cow Slaughter Prohibition Act in both the houses in support of famers and to protect cows. This has become the law as Hindus worship the cows and it is necessary to protect them. When we are ought to protect cows, the quality of milk, breed and disease, instead the word is spreading that we will kill cows.”
Kota Poojary urged the chief minister Siddaramaiah and other ministers to understand the feelings of people. He said, “People have voted for you and you have got elected as chief minister. But, that does not mean that you have all powers and do as you wish. If you bring amendments changes to the Cow Slaughter Prohibition Act, members of the BJP will strictly oppose this and will fight against any move.”
Replying to minister MB Patil’s comments on Chakravarty Sulibele, Kota Srinivas Poojary said, “Before making any statement, Patil should understand the meaning of Sulibele’s statement, intention and patriotism. He is not a terrorist. The way M B Patil said that we will arrest Sulibele portrayed the latter as a terrorist. I request to check your words because Sulibele joins in the list of nationalists. If you make such utterances against such people like Sulibele, we members of the BJP will stand in support of him.”
Commenting on the ongoing women wrestlers' protests in Delhi, Kota Srinivas Poojary said, “The central government is checking the reason behind the protest by women wrestlers. As you all know, the Central government gave a statement related to the same on Sunday. We will solve the issue at the opportune time. We will check whether they are getting funds from outside countries as well.”
