Mangalore : Poojary Inaugurates MadhuTaranga Bi-decennial Event

Mangalore, Jul 18: Former union minister and senior political leader B Janardhana Poojary inaugurated the bi-decennial celebrations of the popular music group 'MadhuTaranga', known for promoting and encouraging young singers in and around Mangalore.
The event was held in Town Hall on Sunday, July 17.
Madhu Taranga is the brainchild of Jagadish Shivpur, popularly known as junior Rajkumar, for his likeness to Kannada legend, the late Dr Rajkumar's style of singing.
"Music keeps us united, as it has no boundary of language or religion. Jagadish Shivpur has done a tremendous job in encouraging young talents in Mangalore. He deserves much appreciation from the people of the region, as he has dedicated his life to music," Poojary said in praise of the founder of Madhu Taranga.
Every year, Madhu Taranga organises a musical tribute to the late Dr Rajkumar, and also honours achievers of various fields, including music.
Along with Janardhana Poojary, former Kannada Sahitya Parishat DK president Harikrishna Punaroor, teleserial actor and jeweller from Bangalore Nanjundi, Daijiworld.com editor-in-chief Walter Nandalike were the guests of honour.
Twelve achievers in the field of music, art, literature, and social service were honoured on the occasion by Janardhana Poojary.
Well-known astrologer and Vastu specialist Ashok Purohit from Mumbai, TV anchor, artiste Navneeth Shetty, singer Anitha Samson have been awarded with titles.
Pundalik Marathe (Literature/ education), Ramesh Shetty (Business), Vasanth Mallya (Medical PRO, and Journalism), Jyothika Jain (Politics), Ramachandra Acharya, Kuntady (Artist), Ramesh Acharya, (Architech), Shantaram Kalladka (Artiste), B N Dinesh (NRI), Sharath Kumar Kadri (Yakshagana), and Navagiri Ganesh (Artiste), were the personalities honoured.
Earlier Jagadish Shivpur thanked his well-wishers for supporting him morally as well as financially over the past twenty years and said that his best performance was yet to come.
Ramachandra Rao BC Road, Manjula Shetty, Baikady Janardahan Acharya, S P Gurudas Acharya have compered the event.
