Mangalore: Mor Gregorios Jacobite Students' Movement Inaugurated in City

Mangalore, Jul 18: Mor Gregorios Jacobite Students' Movement (MGJSM), Mangalore, was inaugurated in a function held at St Antony's Jacobite Syrian Cathedral, Jeppu, on Sunday July 17.

Dr Kuriakose Mor Theophilose, Metropolitan, MSOT Seminary, Vettickal, Udayagiri, Mulanthuruthy, Kerala, and president of MGJSM Mangalore inaugurated the Movement here on Sunday morning.

Dr Theophilose, in his inaugural address, said, "In the 21st century, the youth are required to grow stronger in terms of spirituality and faith by imbibing Christian values and thereby spread the message of universal brotherhood and lead fruitful lives," he added. 

Fr Sunny John, spiritual advisor, and Vicar of St Antony's Jacobite Syrian Cathedral, presided over the programme.

Fr Mathai Kattumanagttu, Fr Anish, general secretary, MGJSM and public relation officer of MSOT Seminary, Vettickal, city lawyer A C Jayaraj, secretary E P Isaac, and trustee C Cherian were the guests of honour.

Shaiju Abraham welcomed the gathering. Seematti T Paul proposed the vote of thanks. Blessy compered the programme.

MGJSM is a students' movement and a spiritual organization under the Jacobite Syrian Christian Association Bishop Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas First Catholicose is their patron and the president is Mor Theophilose Kuriakose Metropolitan. MGJSM works for the development of manifold activities functioning on spiritual, mental, cultural, social, and educational fields. It also helps in moulding students in the vast arena of student community irrespective of religion, race, gender or class.

Its chief objectives are providing spiritual insight and awareness to the students, to impact leadership training, to imbibe Christian values, faith and traditions, to equip the students to face the challenges of the modern world, to help the students to strengthen their faith in God, to uphold the ethical and moral values of human life, to give guidance to overcome the hurdles and difficulties of the campus life, to foster the universal brotherhood of mankind, and to promote the talents and abilities of the students.
