Udupi, Jun 6: A youth get-together was organized by ICYM Thottam for the youth of St Anne Church on June 4.
Around 80 youth were present for the get-together.
The evening began with some ice breaking session where a few games were conducted to make all the youth know each other and feel at home. This session was followed by a motivating talk by Walter Nandalike, the founder and the managing director of Daijiworld media.
He spoke on a couple of important topics so as to motivate the youth to pursue what is close to their heart with commitment and dedication. The topics dealt were media, government jobs (KAS/IAS- Civil Services) politics, self-employment and management of emotions. He also said that failure should not prompt one to give up rather it should motivate one to re-dedicate and climb higher. He gave a few concrete success stories including his own. The session was followed by an interactive session where he answered and clarified the questions and doubts of the youth present. For the motivating talk the parents of the youth too were present. He addressed the parents too.
Fr Denis D’Sa, the parish priest of St Anne Church, Thottam presided over the function. Fr Stephen Fernandes, the diocesan youth director was the guest of honour. Sunil Fernandes, the vice president of PPC, the secretary, the 20 Commissions coordinator, youth animators Kevin, Leslie Arouza, Laveena Arouza, Alice Menezes and Sunitha Martis were present on dais.
Fr Denis in his presidential address motivated the youth to take risks in life. He said that in the old there is security but there is no progress but in the new there is risk but there is also development. He cautioned the youth to take realistic risks.
This was followed by fun and frolic by the youth. A few entertaining games were conducted for the youth which culminated with a sumptuous dinner and a dance session.
