Mangaluru, Jun 9: Biparjoy cyclone has taken a vicious turn on Arabian Sea. In the next few hours, heavy rains with thunder and lightning are expected in many parts of Karnataka including Dakshina Kannada (DK), Udupi and Uttara Kannada.
Biparjoy has intensified more than expected and is moving towards the north. The impact will be more in Goa and Gujarat.
The weather department has also given forecasts of heavy rains for the next three to four days in some parts of the state. Fishermen are alerted not to venture into the sea from June 9 to 12.
Waves with a height of 2.5 to 3.3 meters are expected in coastal Karnataka sea shores from Mangaluru to Karwar. Heavy rains are going to lash in DK, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Shivamogga and Tumakuru districts. Yellow alert is declared in all these districts.
