Pejavar Swamiji to Inaugurate Mysore Dasara Festivities

Bangalore, Jul 19: The annual Mysore Dasara celebrations, which attract tourists from all over, will be inaugurated by Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Udupi Pejavar Mutt.
At a high profile meeting led by chief minister Yeddyurappa on Monday July 18, it was decided to invite Pejavar Swamiji to inaugurate the event.
A delegation of the state government will soon meet Swamiji to invite him officially.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, CM Yeddyurappa said that as Pejavar Swamiji is completing 80 years this year, it was decided to invite him to inaugurate the Dasara.
Central tourism departmen minister Subodh Kanth Sahay will also be invited and demand will be put forth to avail assistance from the centre for the development of Mysore district into a prime tourist spot, he said.
In the meeting, discusssions were held on celebrating Dasara with more grandeur than the previous three years. It was decided to reserve Rs 100 crore in the budget for this purpose, in addition to Rs 10 crore separately reserved for the development of roads in Mysore.
It was also decided in the meeting that tight security will be deployed at the Dasara festival, in view of the recent blasts in Mumbai.
