Bengaluru couple die after inhaling poisonous gas in washroom

Bengaluru, Jun 12 (IANS): In a tragic incident, a couple was found dead in the washroom of their house here, police said on Monday.

The preliminary investigation has suggested that the couple may have inhaled poisonous gas released by the geyser in the washroom.

The deceased were identified as Chandrashekar from Chamarajanagar district and Sudha Rani from Belagavi district. The incident took place in the Tarabanahalli village in Yelahanka taluk of Bengaluru. Both worked at a star hotel near the Bengaluru International Airport.

According to police, the couple were spending some time together before their marriage. The locals have told police that the couple were in a live-in relationship.

The victims had closed windows and door of the washroom and succumbed after inhaling carbon monoxide from the geyser, said the police.

The incident came to light a day after their death. The hotel staff came in search of them on Sunday noon, and when no response came from inside the victim's house, called the police.

The police had to break open the door, and later found the bodies lying in the washroom.

Further details are awaited.

Washrooms in the apartments are normally very small with insufficient ventilation. Hence it is advisable to install geysers outside the washroom.

Haneef, Mangalore, where ever and who ever it may be made by, but the installation done by our great Indian plumber no doubt. Do these plumber know what is required to burn NG/LPG?. Common ratio 15 KG air(Oxygen) required to burn1KG fuel. So no need to blame others for our own mistake. All gas geysers should be installed out side well ventilated place.

Since it was not a new installation, and was in use for long, logically it's the victims who forcibly closed all ventilation openings with an intention of ending their lives by suffocation; if it was not intentional, they would have rushed out as soon as they started suffocating! IMHO, they might have got this idea from the net!!

RIP!! It appears that they were using a gas fired geyser, which requires enough ventilation: "Gas geysers consume oxygen to generate heat for warming water. In an ill-ventilated bathroom, they can consume the entire oxygen forcing a person to breathe in carbon monoxide — a known cause of epileptic seizures and brain damage."! Since both had locked them up from inside, they could have easily come out after feeling suffocated; in that context, it appears to be a case of suicide!!

Very sad .It looks like they wanted it? God knows what problem they had.Suicide is not a solution for any problem :Heartfelt sympathy to their family .May their souls rest in peace. They should have consulted someone if they had any problem.am sure it wasnt problem from Gieser but it was their intention may be to end life like that?
