First in Karnataka – 32-meter long glass skywalk bridge inaugurated in Madikeri

Madikeri, Jun 13: A 32-meter long and two-meter wide glass skywalk bridge, which is at a height of 78 feet is attracting the attention of tourists here.

This bridge is built at Pappy’s Plantation at Udoth Motte on the outskirts of the city.

The bridge can bear a weight of five tonnes. Around 40 to 50 people can stand on the bridge and see the breathtaking scenic beauty of nature.

This is the first glass skywalk bridge of the state. It was inaugurated by MLA A S Ponnanna of Virajpet.

    If the natural frequency of the bridge is equal to the frequency produced, the bridge may start vibrating vigorously with a large amplitude due to resonance and may break.---- Hence in the ARMY -- When the troops cross a suspension bridge the soldiers are asked to break steps --- the natural frequency of the bridge happens to be equal to the frequency of the steps, -- then bridge can collapse -- with increase in amplitude --( progressive increase --)--

    While congratulating the one-of-a-kind work --Public can Enjoy scenery and surroundings -- -glass -- -------not sure who has invested -- govt or private ---Should be under strict security -- supervision -- knowing excited holiday goers. -- school children on picnics -- Drunken revelers -- . etc etc -- The Morbi bridge disaster comes into mind which happened on a holiday -- the bridge was designed to hold around 150 people -- but 500 landed at the same time -- no proper security --. due to a holiday unusual rush -- -- of course, poor repair works not being done was also one of the causes --

    I hope they have used high quality glass, which can withstand the forces created by our undisciplined and unruly crowds/children when they see something for the first time; thorough pilot testing under 150% of all stressors/loads it is designed for!!
